Note on contested ProD[edit]

There was a ProD, which I contested. I'm recording it here as a place for any further discussion to live. SwisterTwister proposed deletion of this page with the following rationale:

 Highly suggestive of advertising, which is automatically deleted by our main policies WP:Deletion policy, WP:NOT, as they are clearly-stated non-negotiable policies, holding importance above any and all guidelines, and the sources here are not satisfying our simplest standards given they're simply announcements, notices or brief quotes, something that will not establish notability given, to even satisfy our simplest standards, we would need multiple significant independent news, and not trivial coverage (as stated in our standards); an easy search shows a local business PR publication (1 article, but republished different times), which is noted by WP:GNG to be an unconvincing source, given it's not independent and it's not free from the subject's own contributing or influences, and closely examining the source finds heavy emphasis in advertising the man's own businesses and career. Worse, the history and 1 SPA user suggests a paid advertisement, given the user never openly acknowledged our policies, including our non-negotiable WP:Paid, which states users have no exceptions to clearly stating their conflict of interest or payment. With this, our policies allow deletion because Wikipedia is never tolerant of such covert advertising and it's an initiative we've held since WP started, especially when there's no better and meaningful significance.

I'm contesting this because I didn't see evidence of advertisement, and while looking for other sources (I've added a couple related to Hamsho's entanglement with Executive Order 13769) I saw a BBC article noting that this was written by Areej Zayat from BBC Arabic as part of a drive to increase representation of women on Wikipedia. So, technically paid but not an advertisement. Hamsho may be of borderline notability but I haven't looked deeply and have uncovered a few sources. If this came to AfD I expect I would end up !voting "Keep" after a bit more digging. Mortee (talk) 13:01, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
