Proposed Deletion of Article[edit]

There appears to be little to your argument, given wiki policy and precedent than a personal, and quite random view, possibly, probably, drive-by and uniformed take on nightclubs in general. There are numerous, high quality sources establishing Henry's as one of the most important venues in the late 80s emerging Acid House scene. Ceoil (talk)

Hi. On the two points raised in the comment:

"little here in the way of notability" - The subject has been the principal topic in several documentaries (radio and film), academic research, an exhibition, and extensive coverage in national news outlets. The majority of which is linked/covered in the article.
"may as well write an article about a corner shop" - If the corner shop you have in mind has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, then it may be notable. If it hasn't received such coverage, then the comparison has no merit.

Fair enough. I didn't realise it became such a cultural nexus. I was living in Cork in the early to mid 80's, and knew all the clubs, including this one. Back then, it was simply a less tacky version of Cocos or a more interesting version of Kenny Lee's Spiders (Kenny's joint being somewhere off Washington Street, if I remember right). I never thought of Henry's as a Cork version of Hacienda, but it looks like it came into its own after I left Ireland (for good). Hanoi Road (talk) 21:03, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
