Sequel

The film was followed by a completely unrelated direct to video sequel in 2005.How can it be unrelated and a sequel? And what's the title, etc.? Her Pegship 02:54, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

I've removed the line pending explanation. Jay 21:33, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
The 'sequel' was variously titled, I think 'Single White Female 2: The Psycho' was one title. The film did not feature the original Alison Jones character, there were two new female characters, but there was apparently no link with SWF. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.70.155.252 (talk) 17:43, 12 March 2007 (UTC).

Critical reception?

Odd that this is missing for such a frequently imitated film. Can anyone assist? --Legis (talk - contribs) 19:06, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

I get that this has been published somewhere, but what does it mean for a fictional character to have borderline personality disorder? They aren't real, they don't have brains, they do the things they do because the screenwriter writes them that way. How relevant/notable is this strange bit of speculative "research"? Does it need to be on this page? 2.124.156.59 (talk) 00:00, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

In that sense, Ishmael wasn't a sailor and Princess Lea wasn't a princess. It's not unheard of for high school teachers to use a novel or film to spark discussion. I can easily imagine using the character as a case study: "What aspects of the character are consistent/inconsistent with a diagnosis of BPD?"
While the character certainly did not exist as a person, I think (given reliable sources) it is noteworthy that a character sparks discussion as an example of a real condition. I'm betting Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory has sparked numerous discussions re ASD and can't imagine we could reasonably have an article about him without discussing it (Sheldon_Cooper#Asperger_syndrome). - SummerPhDv2.0 01:29, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
Well, Ishmael is a sailor because it says he's a sailor in the book, right? It's certainly possible to imagine someone using this film as a case study, like DJ Robinson has done in his book "Reel Psychiatry" - but in the end that's just a speculative fan theory - and of course we can't put every speculative fan theory on Wikipedia. The Sheldon comparison is interesting, and maybe apt, but at least there it looks like this has been discussed widely, including by the writers of the programme. 2.124.156.59 (talk) 09:32, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
It's not just a fan theory - Hedy easily fits the BPD criteria and is often cited as a fictional example of BPD. Jim Michael (talk) 16:16, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

Plot summary

The plot summary here seems to have a bunch of extra stuff that wasnt in the movie... I dont know if its from the book or whatever, but if it is, it should be moved to section that explains differences between the book and movie or something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.164.129.200 (talk) 03:17, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually, it is pretty concise and straight on with the Movie, as I have just freshly watched it. 24.155.244.245 (talk) 05:16, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
