Most of the Silk (soy milk) page is clearly copied straight off their website (such as "helping the environment," from http://www.silksoymilk.com/AboutSilkOurCauses/HelpingTheEnvironment.aspx ). Deleting all this may leave us without a page... Faunablues 01:42, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

I removed the blatant advertising. You're right; there's not much left. I edited down the enviro section but ended up deleting pretty much everything else. I hope my edit is ok. Let me know if not. Thanks. Kirs10 22:50, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

"Silk Soymilk has been a PROUD supporter of Farm Aid since 2002"?? That's press release talk. Does not belong here. Also, if the author is going to pass along the company's "Green" claims verbatim, how about Googling up a little skepticism as well? Relgif (talk) 02:23, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

I took this text out of the article as the source is not verifiable and also Silk is a product not a company, so how can it purchase solar power? this fact can be added back in when its confirmed by a source and accurately stated.

I don't see how these citations support this sentence. Am I missing something? I have left it in the article for now. Hopefully we can clarify these sources.

Please UPDATE Non-Organic Info in the "Controversy" Section

[ My first posting. Please notify me if I made any errors following the Wikipedia protocols. ]

According to Silk's website they currently have NO GMO products! I love being a consumer advocate and I applaud the heads up when information is accurate, YET I also like being current and honest. It seems this entry needs to be UPDATED especially to show support to companies that change and respond to consumer: needs, suggestions and requests.

I found several article online yet they all where several years old with a similar theme: 'boycott Silk because they are no longer organic." Just to make sure instead of just believing whatever I read, I actually went to Silk's website and found that they are now carrying Organic AND the non-Organic is Non-GMO.

Here is what they say in their FAQ's "Do Silk products contain genetically engineered (GMO) soybeans? No..."

References Reason Silk can't afford organic soy beans anymore and must use cheap labor Silk has allowed fraudulent "$2 off 1 half gallon" coupons to circulate on eBay for over 3 years. Silk was and is aware of the problem and have been for over 3 years yet have done nothing to stop the repeated sale of thousands of the coupons (sellers with "good" printers just keep printing off more copies). It's because of this coupon Silk has had to dish out thousands of dollars in reimbursements to grocers and because of that expense, Silk now has to cut back in other areas such as the quality of their product, find cheapo labor, and increase the price of their product. Silk customer service will even tell you if you call, that at one time, for a very short time over 3 years ago, the coupon had been offered online for consumers to print one per person but the link to print the coupon had been discontinued. The coupon did have an expiration date when Silk offered it. The positioning of the expiration date on the top of the coupon made it easy to cut off once printed; then the coupon was re-copied with no date at all. And some eBay sellers made thousands of copies. Silk just hasn't acted because the company thinks eBay is a good venue to get attention for their soymilk and feel people who might be tempted to try a different brand won't because those people will be too excited to bid on and win the auctions for the $2-off coupons. So Silk is willing to take the loss but have to cut back in other areas because of the immense cost. The sellers make $6 to $9 per auction for 15 to 20 coupons. The coupons are quite popular and soy milk drinkers will stay loyal to Silk because they can get so much of a discount whereas other brands don't ever offer that much off per half gallon. Here are some current auctions on eBay just over a few week's period of time. I noticed the Silk milk price went up by about two dollars over the past couple years where Soy Dream and Westsoy did not and I bet it is because of that stupid coupon. My problem is I like Silk milk a lot better than other brands so I kept paying the higher price. I would never stoop to buying fake coupons off Ebay though. What can be done though? Oh and I just won't buy Silk milk any longer because I think it could be the company itself that has set up Ebay accounts to sell those coupons.
