SHH OST to be officially released in the US!!!

I found an interview dated September 26, 2008 with Akira Yamaoka where he states that the OST for Silent Hill: Homecoming will be officially released in the United States by Konami USA!!! I added this to the main article with a citation of where the interview came from.KSweeley (talk) 10:14, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

more about p-head!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbLEbdMkbIg&feature=related indeed it is true. he is in homecoming!!!!! as it has come to may attention that his role is tied in with the sheperd family! mary sheperd: silent hill 2 alex sheperd: silent hill homecoming

connection? maybe. maybe it is tied in with them and has nothing to do with james...Bewarethebob (talk) 03:53, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

No, Pyramid Head does have something to do with James in Silent Hill 2. That's why he is seen raping monsters; to symbolise James's suppresed sexual feelings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.149.241.118 (talk) 22:03, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

originall i thought that...but it is true. it has no relation to james. i thought it had so many connections, but now it is blatently obvious to me. Bewarethebob (talk) 05:25, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

tavis grady in SH: homecoming

those of you who have played the demo either at E3 or at comic-con 2008, probably know about the link to silent hill orgins. travis grady made an appearance in the upcoming silent hill. for reasons i would be slightly feel bad about explaining. just thought id mention it. Bewarethebob (talk) 20:50, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Developer Change and Official Release Date

FYI, the developer for Silent Hill: Homecoming has changed to Double Helix Games since a merger between The Collective and Shiny Entertainment, I added that information with a citation to the article. Also, Konami has released an official US release date of September 2008 at their 2008 Konami Gamer Night event, I also added that to the article with a citation to a Konami press release. KSweeley (talk) 07:11, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

silent hill v NOT homecoming

homecoming is just the code name for the project. It will not have that name when released. The official name so far is just silent hill 5, if anything its 'Silent Hill 5: Homecoming' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.221.153.204 (talk) 23:57, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

sorry, just had a chat with konami reps at comic-con, 2008. yes it's silent hill:homecoming. the code name, has been abandoned for unknown reasons. it's unclear to me why it is not "5" however. Bewarethebob (talk) 20:50, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

The Collective?

Just look at the games they've made. Why would they be responsible for the first Silent Hill game on a next-gen console? Its insane. As long as its better than Silent Hill: The Room I guess I'll play it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cathys Son (talkcontribs) 11:20, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

No Escape

Whoever keeps tossing in the BS line about the "speculated" title, stop. No Escape is a fanmade web series, and someone mistakenly called a YouTube video "preview for silent hill 5: no escape" when it was just a clip from the series. --134.173.57.126 01:25, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Re: Connection to Series

Requested source for theoretical connection to SH2 added. For future reference, please adhere to Wiki Guidelines and discuss these types of changes before removing the whole section. Your authoritative tone is neither necessary nor appreciated. SilentHylian 17:12, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Forums are not considered reliable sources. A fansite or something making some sort of statement in a plot summary might meet this threshold, but not a forum. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 17:31, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

If this is your opinion, then we can simply edit the quote to reference the fact that the surnames are the same. This requires no sources as it is known information directly from the games. Would you prefer this? There's no need to remove the whole section. SilentHylian 17:34, 16 July 2007 (UTC)24.186.131.129 17:33, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Then the whole section would be obsolete at any rate because it would not assert a strong connection. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 17:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

This is simply your opinion, not a Wiki Editing Policy. Connections between characters from previous entries, especially concrete ones like shared surnames, are of course relevant. The change has been made. If you'd like to suggest something you feel is more appropriate, feel free to, otherwise please refrain from removing the content unnecessarily. SilentHylian 17:46, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

The notation of an obvious fact, such as the characters names, hardly qualifies as "original research". If that were the case, then noting that this is a new entry in a contiuing series or a that it is in fact a video game, would also be classified as original research. Again, please comply with Wikipedia Editing Guidelines - no consensus has been reached on this issue, and until such time, you have no authority to remove the section completely. Release on PS3 and Xbox 360

I have an article that talks about publsihers dropping exclusives for the PS3 so it is a good idea to state that it may also appear on the Xbox 360. My best opinion is to just drop the information about what console it may or may not be released on.

Here's the article http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/assassinscreed/news.html?sid=6162084 I also had to come back after finding more articles on publishers dropping their exclusivity http://www.nextechnews.com/PermaLink,guid,710b273b-1e92-46cc-8c65-fb0061015e37.aspx http://games.slashdot.org/games/06/11/22/1920257.shtml

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by SpinePastry (talkcontribs) 22:11, 7 December 2006 (UTC).

Careless Editing?

I've noticed that the "Xbox 2" name keeps being changed to the finalized 360 title even though it was originally stated as the Xbox 2 in the interview. Please people, the sic is there for a reason. I'm getting tired of users changing it without paying attention to both the interview and side-note. Hopefully the sentence following that will explain it properly with another inappropriate edit. I'm sorry that I might be over-reacting to this if you assume that, but I just want to keep this article as informative and accurate as possible. I also added the two debated next-gen consoles that the video game may appear on. I would like to request that it also stays up because, if we follow what's mentioned in the same interview that was referenced earlier, than it will either be the PS3 or 360. Leaving it as simply TBA would cause someone to also assume that it might be released on the Wii as rumoured once before.

Stop whining 28,NOV. 2006

Fortunately, I'm not whining in the first place. Everything mentioned is pretty much true. ~ 23:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Just Speculation?

Someone added reasons as to WHY it MAY be release for PS3. (Such as the price and shortages of the PS3) This is probably not appropriate for this article. Suggestions?

Peregrine 03:58, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I also believe that it isn't probably appropriate for the article; however, if someone were to provide links in reference to publisher/developer(s) dropping exclusives from the PS3, that might be reasonable. As for stating details as far as the price and shortage of the console is unnessecary in my opinion. ~ 23:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

upon another chat with some konami reps i met at comic-con 2008, they want to stick pretty true to the series, which entails the playstation title, as well as the PC title. i really cant provide any links for you guys however, sorry. Bewarethebob (talk) 20:51, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Akira's comments

I checked out that source that's been here for ages, but I've never really bothered to look at. Turns out it's a post on a website which links the source to an invisionfree board to a post by an unregistered user. That's certainly not what I'd call a reliable source. 199.126.137.209 04:33, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Agreed, something more official is needed before such an impacting statement can be made to seem official. Does anyone have any citations available that could perhaps give us a more direct source for the aforementioned comments? Homazu 20:40, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Wouldn't work just to get someone to check out the site where the article supposely come from? The address is simply http://www.famitsu.com/game, and then one could probably search for the game from there. I could have done it myself, but I don't speak a word of Japanese. Could we get a Japanese user of Wiki to do it? 85.164.59.31 18:45, 27 March 2007 (CET)

Well, I was the one responsible for posting the citations back long and I apologize if the source really isn't deemed "reliable". I also disputed these claims around the time I posted them, however, I remember recalling an article that was posted recently (and might be linked on the Silent Hill 5 article) that made mention of those same claims and, thus, I decided not to change them. I would like to do it myself, but all the links are currently unavailable from my location. I'll try to get around to adding the citations to a more worthy source. At the moment, I don't think a citation is needed for the general Akira interview comment.

Update ~ I finally added a citation for the sunny atmosphere/SH2 roots statement from Kotaku.com. Not to be arguative, but since the forum post did happen to nail Akira remarking the direction for SH5 does it possibly justify the mention of the numerical title being dropped for a subtitle as well despite not being mentioned in the Kotaku article? I'm just qurious to know if it should be deleted or make mention of it as a circulating rumour. -- Godzilla, 27 March 2007

The Electric Playground episode discussion

In its former state, the paragraph, though well composed, seemed to draw from many different aspects of the episode in question rather than thoroughly detail what was mentioned. Since there is no source available, I have added a bit of clarification to the end of the paragraph, which I believe does no harm to the blurb in question.

Please feel free to revert it if needed, although I believe this is absolutely valid in that the "speculation" provided by myself matches the original paragraph (which was not in any way altered, only added on-to). Homazu 20:45, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Just Random speculation

I was wondering what would be the story around Silent 5. Well I was thinking that maybe the even numbers in the Silent Hill series were directed on side stories/experiences of bystanders to Silent Hill, while the odd numbers mainly delved in Silent Hill's main story, which talks about the battle to prevent the birth of the "god".

Could this be plausible? Well in "House of the Dead", the stories relating to Goldman where usually even numbered, while the stories relating to Curien where odd numbered. So I thought this could also be applied to Silent Hill. Maybe we will find out when Silent Hill 5 comes out. But then again there is also Silent Hill prequel coming up, which may make this even more confusing. NewDreams2 15:49, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Speculation doesn't really have a place in wikipedia articles. Might I suggest going to the gamefaqs.com forums? --Thaddius 14:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

This article states: "It is unknown if the tradition of including a spoof "UFO Ending" will be continued in this installment." First of all: There hasn't been a UFO Ending in Silent Hill 4 so it's rather confusing to talk about "a tradtion" and furthermore: what is the point of this information anyway? It's basically nothing else but a useles speculation - therefore I am going to remove it. (Otherwise we could also write something like: It is unkown if the main character of Silent Hill 5 is going to be able to fly through the air and to use a sniper-rifle - you get what i mean...) -- Fmaj7

It's in all the other games; even in Silent Hill 2, which has nothing really to do with the central plots of the Silent Hill 1, 2 and Origins. So it can be considered a tradition. Plus, Silent Hill 4 was, I think, supposed to be a spin-off. 67.186.131.2 (talk) 05:00, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

  • warning spolilers for previous games*

as i do agree with thaddius, that speculation has no place on the "main" wiki page for silent hill, i must wonder if it also applies to the discussion board. of course, a forum would be a better place, but this speculation is actually quite close to the dot. the ufo "tradition" is just a funny add-on. but notice, that in silent hill 1-4 the protagonist is fighting someone or something trying to produce a new god. 1: alessa's rebirth 2: maria** 3: claudia's god 4: walter's prophecies

even in orgins, he intends to fight the begging of what may one day become a god. [or rather a demon in this case, which is why it is not numbered] the only exception i can see to this numeric trend is in silent hill 2. james encounters his wife in the final stage of the game, and upon defeating her, it shows a series of events relating to james. however, was maria trying to become a god herself? probably. if i have made anyone angry im sorry, if this post is unaccepted here, please remove. Developer

Is it confirmed that Team Silent is developing this game? If not, it should removed from the article. --Mika1h 13:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

While Team Silent hasn't been explicitly stated as developing the project, producer/composer/SH4 director Akira Yamaoka is a member of the group yet I'm not sure if that's enough to list it. There was an article long time ago that confirmed that the team was working on a survival horror title, but the source (which I believe would be noteable if I recall the exact place correctly) failed to clarify if it looked like a new original title or a continuation of the Silent Hill series. Of course, there was a rumour recently from EGM (see topic below) claiming that an "American team" with Konami would be working on the project (then again, there's also a rumour claiming that the under-the-radar Silent Hill 5 will be released later this year on the PS3 & X360), but the magazine sometimes either makes a hit or misses. The Brazilian division EGM was fooled into releasing what they thought was exclusive content for God of War III but Sony later confirmed that the material was indeed fake. E3 is approaching so hopefully Konami will finally confirm SH5's development, but for now it's difficult to say who's actually creating it anymore with all these rumours flying about. -- Godzilla
Update: I came across a source that mentioned Team Silent working on another horror title, but it probably wouldn't be reliable according to Wikipedia's standards. It stated that they were going to use a scrapped concept originally for Silent Hill 3 as the title's premise. -- Godzilla, 23:35, 07 July 2007 (UTC)

EGM and SH5

EGM has apparently claimed that SH5 will be released later this year for both Xbox360 and PS3. Source. --Thaddius 14:02, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Article Title Change?

Well, the official teaser premiered today and I was wondering since the trailer is shown as Silent Hill V should the article be changed also or should it stay as Silent Hill 5 according to the additional details note at the end?

The press release is still using the conventional number. We'd better wait before we move it. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 03:36, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment?

The page says that the game will be distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, but that isn't mentioned anywhere else, and it seems very unlikely. Was this a change made by the troll who's been messing with this page lately, or is it true? --24.123.233.144 16:12, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Should this page be semi-protected?

The Silent Hill V page seems to be getting a lot of vandalism, so would it be a good idea to semi-protect it for a while? Also, could someone block that fail troll already? They're terribly unfunny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.31.48.195 (talk) 01:34, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I got rid of the "character section"

because it was half vandalism and half speculation, with lines such as "she is going to have street wise sexiness as well as the reliable girl next door cuteness" and "what does this say about this character, maybe he likes fighting?" so I just though I'd notify you all —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.22.4.253 (talk) 03:56, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Inspired by movie

I saw footage of the way the world turns into the other world in this game, and it clearly was pulled directly from the movie special effect - the way pieces of the world flake off and then float up and dissapear, revealing the rusted stuff underneath. The bathroom scene I saw was even the exact bathroom from the movie, except a nurse came out of the toilet stall instead of the janitor.

I didn't want to add it in the article yet because the game's in development, but please keep an eye out for quotes from the developers talking about their relationship to the movie's special effects design. Definitely notable.Rglong 21:28, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I see multiple sources saying the release is due in 2008, but no where do I see January 2008. If someone could put one down, that would rock. Hard. Wooly Pounds 23:32, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Not really that notable. The new PSP game (Origins) also uses this effect. Should not have any bearing on the plot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.166.244.173 (talk) 21:22, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

No you are incorrect, the PSP game does not use the effect. It fades to TV static when changing between worlds. Also the change is initiated by the player touching mirrors, rather than driven automatically by the story.24.196.95.139 (talk) 20:26, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

yes, it bares many similaritites to the film...p-head's form...transformation...and some of the actions are all "copies" Bewarethebob (talk) 23:12, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Release date

The release date says January 2008 but there's no official source for that. I think in some Interview the programmers said that there will probably not be a release until fall 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.128.197.148 (talk) 12:03, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

If I recall correctly, whoever posted the Q1 2008 release dates likely got them from IGN. I believe they had the January one up for a little while after the game was confirmed, but I haven't been back to the pages to see if they have been changed since. (Godzilla 05:29, 16 November 2007 (UTC))

Validity of Akria as a source.

With a new team doing the work on the other side of the globe and Akira Yamokas involvement limited to the soundtrack... Is it time to remove some of the early early info he came up with? (The SH2 links, Sunny enviroment, etc etc) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.166.244.173 (talk) 21:25, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn't say so. Yamaoka is the only continuing member who works with the franchise to date and he wasn't been justed limited to the soundtrack in the past. He helped oversee the film adaptation and likely played a role in the transfer of US Climax to the UK division during the failing production of Silent Hill: Origins. Even if that isn't much, still not a whole lot of information has been confirmed with Silent Hill V (it has approx. a year of production left in my guess) and some info may turn out in the final product. Another thing is that it would make great information to include in a 'Development History' section which can be added later in the article's life cycle. (Godzilla 05:30, 16 November 2007 (UTC))
