In Wikipedia article on Sigrid Onegin, author says she married Baron Eugene Borisovitch Lvov Onégin (b. St. Petersburg, October 10, 1883; d. Stuttgart, November 12, 1919) in 1913 and remained married til Baron's death in 1919. However, if you read info on Sigrid on Elisa Rolle's website "Queer Places", you will be startled to read that this Baron was not the Baron cited above. He was Agnes Elizabeth Overbeck (b. 1883-d. 1919) of Russian parents, but raised in England. She called herself Baron Eugene Onegin. Her nickname was "Jimmy" and presumably passed herself off as a male. She was a well-known music composer and acted as voice coach to Sigrid. Sigrid was born in Sweden to German father and French mother and the Baron (whoever he/she was) was born in Russia--hence much of the information available is in some language I don't read (Russian, French, etc.) making it hard to confirm claims. This is all very confusing, but I am not able to clear it up because I can't read available info. I don't even know if Baron Lvov Onegin was a real person, or if the female Baron Onegin made him up, or was posing as him or ? Perhaps someone out there with better language skills or more knowledge of Russian families could clear this up. I am reluctant to change the page as I am not sure whether Elisa is correct (and why wouldn't she be) or author of article knows something I don't. 14Mehitabel (talk) 17:48, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
