The Name Shuttleworth[edit]

This derivation from OE sceot is from a group of Victorian amateur historians and rather questionable, as is their association of Shuttleworth with Kinder Scout. Ekwall in the Oxford Dictionary of English Place Names (1960) proposes OE scyttel(s) meaning a bar or bolt, instead. Paul S (talk) 10:06, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
