  • The information density is way too high, and in my humble opinion more than half of it is not notable.
  • The formatting is awful.
  • Spelling. Grammar. The works.

I'd do it myself if I knew anything about the subject, but I don't, and this article isn't helping. ABoerma 20:09, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quite agree: it was a total disaster. I've fixed it up, but there's a lot more work to be done here. Some decent references would be a start. There was some extreme POV about how men who didn't wear sikhas were exhibiting a "Hindu slave mentality" (actually, 'salve', but I think that was a typo) under the oppression of Muslim Mughals and the British, too. Nasty stuff. -- TinaSparkle 12:36, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Transliteration[edit]

It seems to me that the anglicized form of Sanskrit शिखा should be Shikha or Śikha; the page, in other words, should be retitled. I'd do it myself but am not sure how.helio 20:46, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Hindu?[edit]

QUOTE: Though traditionally all Hindus were required to wear a śikhā, today it is seen mainly among Brahmins and temple priests.West Bengal it is called Tiki.END OF QUOTE

Traditionally only the Brahmans were Hindus. Others became Hindus only around 1930s

QUOTE: The śikhā was one of the few symbols of Hindus that transcended caste, language or regional barriers. Although there were variations of the style of sikha amongst communities, it was obligatory for all males. END OF QUOTE

Do you have any citations for this extraordinary claim? 73.73.127.102 (talk) 01:31, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
