Scope of this article[edit]

A few Wikipedians might wonder why this is its own article as the school district itself only legally existed from 2007 to 2011 (four years). However Iowa school districts which engage in whole grade-sharing do engage in unified branding as "a single school district" (even though they remain legally separate). The SCMT grade-sharing agreement started as far back as 1988, and this agreement ended when the districts legally merged in 2007. This means the scope of this article should be 1988 to 2011.

I also do not believe that any of the predecessor nor successor districts should be merged into each other as all have distinct periods of coverage:

  • Sheffield-Chapin was formed in 1960 and merged in 2007, so that article should roughly cover 1960-2007. That means the years 1960-1988 (28 years) are distinct to this article, and only the years 1988-2007 would overlap with this one (19 years).
  • Meservey-Thornton was formed in 1963 and merged in 2007, so that article should roughly cover 1963-2007. That means the years 1963-1988 (25 years) are distinct to this article.
