Notable people with this name[edit]

Someone keeps adding a certain student with this name. I appreciate their enthusiasm to add to a section that needs expanding, but students do not usually meet Wikipedia's requirements for notability. It would be more useful to suggest which of the Shahids who already have their own articles would be particularly helpful to list on the Name page. - Fayenatic (talk) 17:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Emphasis on male given name[edit]

I've met someone called Shahid. She appears to be femal. She's listed (on my doctors' website) as female. Shahid is placed in the family/surname position (last name. We're talking England here). In the articul on [Shahid (actor)] his partner is also called Shahid, which suggests to it's a family name. Could we say that it is a family name in the articule, as well as saying 'As a male given name it is common among Muslims'; and a male given name on the disambiguas page.
