	Asia portal Shafik Chokin is part of WikiProject Central Asia, a project to improve all Central Asia-related articles. People's Hero of Kazakhstan[edit]

The article says that he was awarded the title People's Hero of Kazakhstan in 1996 but I could not find any contemporary sources and I cannot find the Presidental decree that Russian Wikipedia cites (Указ Президента Республики Казахстан № 3019 от 7 июня 1996 г.). I feel like if he actually was officially awarded it then it would not be difficult to find a source to confirm it. I did searches in both Russian and Kazakh but still have no luck. Anyone with a source that predates the addition of the award to the Russian Wikipedia article back in 2008 (which at the time was unsourced since all the sources in the article at the time predate 1996), please share it. --QazyQazyQazaqstan (talk) 18:02, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
