Creation of this article[edit]

@Pluto2012, Northamerica1000, Stfg, Peterkingiron, Bearian, Srnec, SpinningSpark, and Lankiveil: - I would like to notify on creation of this article, due to your participation in discussion on deleting Sennacherib's campaign in Judah (which was closed as merge into Sennacherib article). In my opinion the topic of Sennacherib's campaign in the Levant, during which he made an incursion in Judah, is certainly notable - hence the broader Levant campaign article should be here pending proper sources are provided. At the time, the whole article on Judah incursion was based on Biblical verses, but now some secondary sources are added and the scope of this article is expanded to the whole Levantine campaign (including Phoenicia and Philistia), not just Judah incursion episode. If you think the Levantine campaign should not have an article, please let's discuss remerge - i don't mind reconsidering.GreyShark (dibra) 14:59, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was a keep vote. As I said at the time, there are sources enough to make an article out of this. However, I think you should have restored the article at Sennacherib's campaign in Judah, expanded it and the moved it to this title, rather than simply creating anew and redirecting the old title here. I do not know if a histmerge is possible, but I don't think the history of the old article should be so hard to find. Srnec (talk) 22:23, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting point, though this article is a broader scope than the Judean incursion alone, so let's hear other opinions.GreyShark (dibra) 10:53, 2 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'd go with a keep if this went to AfD. Bearian (talk) 22:59, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • My comment would be that the article should be citing the Bible as a historical source, as well as the modern books and Assyrian Annals. However I see in principle no objection to its existence. Peterkingiron (talk) 14:44, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
