Is there any evidence that early base isolation was an attempt to address earthquakes, or done for some other reason?

Why does the article say "in process of seismic retrofit, some of the most prominent U.S. monuments" etc. What sbout seismic retrofits in other countries? This isn't a peculiarly American thing.124.197.15.138 (talk) 02:11, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]


Needs to reference creation of technology, this is not US tech like the article implies. Fairly sure its New Zealand research that spawned this technology.
