Given the long history of the abolitionist struggle in England, it seems a bit exaggerated to say that it's the Sharp inquiry that led to slavery's end. If this is the case, can it be explained more thoroughly why this would be, and can we see a specific source for it? For now I'm reducing the claim to make it a factor, rather than as the previous text seemed to imply, the primary cause--but I hope someone who knows more than me will come along and add specifics. --Dvyost 19:25, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
