Metric Version of SA/D: Displacement in m³ instead of t[edit]
The metric version of the SA/D should be sail area [m²] / displacement [m³] ^2/3.
If the displacement is given in tons instead of cubic metres, then the result is not unit-less.
If the displacement is to be given in tons, then a factor, considering the different densities of salt water and fresh water, is needed - similar to the "64" when using the displacement in lbs (instead of cubic feet).
BTW: The corresponding German STZ (Segeltragzahl) is the square root of SA/D. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segeltragzahl
