Wakeup Calls

NASA has released a list of Wakeup calls for many manned and unmanned missions. STS-107 was one of them. Would mention of this be considered relevant to the article?

List can be found here: http://history.nasa.gov/wakeup.htm 128.113.148.32 19:02, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Lost Astronauts Tribute Aboard STS-107

I can't figure out where to fit this in.. I moved it from Space Shuttle Columbia disaster...

During their mission, the crew had paid tribute to the crews of the Space Shuttle Challenger, lost during launch on January 28, 1986, and Apollo 1, killed in a fire on January 27, 1967.

Minor tone edit

I noticed the phrase 'stint in the navy' and changed 'stint' to 'tenure'. This was done to improve the statement to a more encyclopedic tone.Roswell Crash Survivor 04:38, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Possible fix needed.

In the article is written:

( ) indicates number of spaceflights each crew member completed.

Now, technically, they didn't complete the mission, so should we reword this to make it sound like they just took part in the mission, or should we change the #'s to reflect that they died before the mission was complete? JARED(t)  04:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Mission Insignia

Should this be changed to make it so that its not so blatant plagiarism?[1]208.137.139.5 17:47, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

A lot missing

The disaster of course fully took the mission to another level, but now the article is really missing a lot. I mean, they didn't launch and then attempt to land immediate afterward of course. It would be good if we could spend some attention on what it actually was that they were doing up there. Perhaps something about the initial excitement in Israel about this being the first time an Israeli was in space... Those kinds of things. --TheDJ (talkcontribs) 13:30, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

The Lightning

Why is report about the lightening strike not mentioned? Here is the alleged photograph of the incident: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/sm/custom/lkngfqid.jpeg There are many reports across the Web that Columbia was hit by some sort of purple lightning... Even if this is a hoax, it should be mentioned in the Wikipedia article just because of the popularity of this hoax! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.171.191.152 (talk) 17:41, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Lightning hitting the launchtower is something that happens quite regularly. So it is not THAT notable. However, you are always welcome to edit the article and add information (as long as you source it with a newspaper article or something). —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 18:45, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Colored boxes

What is the purpose of the colored boxes next to the astronauts' names? Tad Lincoln (talk) 11:32, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Because of the large number of experiments being run during this mission, the crew formed two groups, a "red" team and a "blue" team, who would alternate working on experiments while the other team would sleep, to maximize workflow so that experiments could be run around the clock. These boxes show who was on which team. KerathFreeman (talk) 01:45, 29 December 2012 (UTC)

This is very cool to know. KerathFreeman, could you cite this in the article? Thanks! Theresavalek (talk) 18:36, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Crew of STS-107, official photo.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on February 1, 2014. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2014-02-01. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:34, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Crew of STS-107
The crew of Space Shuttle mission STS-107 conducted international scientific investigations on the Space Shuttle Columbia. The shuttle disintegrated during atmospheric reentry on 1 February 2003 and the STS-107 crew perished. Tributes to the crew were made throughout the world.
