Rufus' son, Lebrew Jones was sentenced in 1989 to 22 years to life for the murder of Michaelanne Hall, a young New York City prostitute. He was released on parole on November 19, 2009 after significant doubts were raised about his guilt.[1]

Is that relevant?

James Brown.

I am pretty certain that Rufus Jones did not play with James Brown. This is due to a misunderstanding which is being repeated across various sources on the internet. There was another musician, a horn player, called Rufus Jones who played for James Brown. Consequently when searching James Brown's alumni on various sites his name pops up and some people have confused him with Rufus 'Speedy' Jones. Not sure how to prove a negative, there is nothing I can cite to say "Speedy Jones did not play with James Brown". SAHBfan (talk) 12:49, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
