Use of Romans 13 in political debates[edit]

The article could be improved by adding information about uses of this chapter in debates over what was proper for a government to do: https://washingtonmonthly.com/2018/06/15/the-historical-precedent-of-trotting-out-the-bible-to-justify-oppression/ [the link is to an opinion piece; I link to it because it provides an overview of this issue, as well as links to better/usable sources]. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 16:16, 16 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The actual meaning of Romans 13 in politics[edit]

It's very odd, as far as I'm concerned, that the actual meaning of Paul's statements on civil authority is never explained in the page. Rather, we just get modern commentary rather than what scholarship says regarding its meaning.70.49.181.61 (talk) 19:13, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A Note on this kind of article[edit]

Hello User:Wallingfordtoday. You may or may not be interested to know that there are a few hundred articles in the "Bible Book Chapter Number" format, and they tend to contain similar problems: like someone copying NKJV headings into them as if that were the "structure" of the article itself. I've done some clean-up to many of them, but there's always more to do, in case you're interested. Alephb (talk) 03:36, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hundreds ... Lord Jesus Christ... well, I removed all the structure things from all the Romans chapter, if that helps.Wallingfordtoday (talk) 03:47, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Every little bit helps. I'd basically left the whole issue behind a while back after putting quite a bit of time into some of them, until I saw your edit here at Romans to the NKJV header stuff and was reminded of it all. I personally don't know if I'll be even working much with these chapter articles, but I thought it was worth at least letting you know where the issues are. @Wallingfordtoday: although I obviously disagreed with you about the removal of its use in the political realm, your help with the structure stuff is much appreciated. I think most of the articles with this problem were created by the same editor, sometimes with copyvio and other issues. Doug Weller talk 15:23, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
