Opening comment

Current Affairs : The current Chief Minister of Haryana is from Rohtak. He has initiated what seems to be a massive drive to rebuild the roads. While being a step in the right direction, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has been criticised for the slow pace of the work.

History

The following edit has just been undone. The editor was unregistered and replaced the existing text with the one as follows (diff). The same set of text was also added in Gurgaon and therefore has created doubts on authenticity. I have removed this section from Gurgaon as well. Author is requested to bring up a reference along with the edit. thevikas (talk) 11:16, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Since the Aryan migration through current times Rohtak is dominated by the Jats race. Jats, like the citizens of ancient Roman alternated between farming and fighting for their lands in this part of the world for centuries. This fierce race had been the buffer by default shielding Hindus from foreign Islamic invasions from the west. Jats have cultivated and protected the lands in and between 'Punjab region' and 'doab' (two rivers Yamuna and Ganga - this region today includes New Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Pakistani Punjab, Pakistani Sindh). Research conducted during the British rule identified Jats as an integral and vital part of the history of India. In the Punjab region and present day Haryana Jats had long cultivated the lands and ardently protected the inhabitants ('Chattis Kaum' - thirty six communities) against the Islamic invasions from time to time. The city of Rohtak was no different.

Copyright issue ?

Looks like a lot of the text comes copy-paste from http://rohtak.nic.in/ginf4.htm , but it can also be so, that the city website copied wikipedia. --Kummi (talk) 12:28, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

These images(barring one) only represent a certain part of Rohtak, mainly the outskirts of the city. These might lead to misinformation. Trutipurna (talk) 04:43, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Need to improve the article by adding more info and removing unproven claims

Hello everyone, Please improve the article by providing more relevant information and removing unproven claims.

For example, EMU trains do not run between Delhi and Rohtak as of September 2011. Therefore any claim that Rohtak is connected to Delhi by EMU is not correct. As and when EMU trains start running between Delhi and Rohtak, the info can be added. However, no prediction should be added in this regard as predictions are not facts.

Also there is no evidence that Quilla Road Market is Asia's largest cloth market with own production. As a matter of fact, it is not even India's largest cloth market. Such unsubstantiated claims reduce the trustworthiness of the article in the eyes of a reader.

Details of improvements to national highways from Rohtak city to other cities are not a subject matter of this article on Rohtak city. Please do not clutter the article with extraneous details. Details of improvements to national highways can be added to the article on the relevant highway. Adhere to details that are pertinent to Rohtak city.

Adding photos of national highways or railway lines does not enhance the utility of an article on a city unless the railway lines run only within the city (such as Metro lines in Delhi or Bombay). Such photos only clutter the article. HUDA offices exist in every major city in Haryana. There is nothing unique to HUDA office in Rohtak. Therefore adding a photo of HUDA office in Rohtak is really not required.

For Ravindra Rao

Hello Mr. Rao

Whatever I edited in the Article, I set an external link for every possible Information. For example: Delhi-Rohtak EMU service, here's a link 'http://www.delhiscoop.com/story/2011/3/8/235139/7558' the work is all completed, and trial runs have started till Asthal Bohar (Rohtak). EMU trains till Rohtak will finally start in November 2011. For Highways up gradations here are some links 'http://www.projectsjugaad.com/2011/05/four-laning-of-rohtak-panipat-section-of-nh-71a-project/' , 'http://www.processregister.com/Rohtak-Hissar_Nh-10_Road/Project/pid23301.htm', 'http://giza-www.dgmarket.com/tenders/np-notice.do~4308172'.

However the Asia's largest cloth market information wasn't added by me, but there is actually an Asia's largest Cloth market (aka Shori Market) in Rohtak City.

If you want to remove the picture of HUDA office, highway and rail road, then why did you remove several other images, like Sai mandir, delhi road-Skyline image, and others.

I knew it, that the editing done by me could make you guys Surprise, that how can somebody make Page look so good and how can Several Developments can happen in this City, because the image of City is still of Small Town in you minds.

For Future whatever you edit/delete make sure you provide some solid proof/reason behind that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kooolxcv (talkcontribs) 15:43, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Coordinate error of Rohtak city, Haryana state, India

{{geodata-check}}

I do not know at exactly which location within the city of Rohtak, Haryana state, India, you have taken Rohtak city's coordinates as 28°32'N 76°21'E that appear in the Wikipedia article on Rohtak.

Normally the coordinates should be taken at a salient and permanent location within the city, such as Town Hall or Railway Station.

In India, road distances are generally measured from the city's railway station. As seen on Google Earth satellite image, the coordinates of the entrance to the main building of Rohtak Railway Station are: 28°53'27"N 76°34'46"E

Therefore the following coordinate fixes are needed for Rohtak city, Haryana state, India 28°53'27"N 76°34'46"E

Education City

I have seen this sort of puffed-up claim to be an educational hub/Education City on several articles. In this particular instance, it is sourced to a very poor police website, which is simply not good enough - especially given that it is the city's police force. We need some sort of reliable independent source. Does anyone know of such a thing? - Sitush (talk) 12:21, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Education city clarification

The Rohtak city is known as Education city, as even the entrance of City from New delhi, jhajjar, or any other city to which it is connected, there is a sign-board, with a text "Welcome to Education City". I'll be updating it with the image of sign-board, when i'll be travelling to City next time. As I never know, why do some users contradict with some little things. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.144.34.38 (talk) 12:52, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

WHY is the Length of Article Reduced?

As I watched the page last time, it was looking quite better than now. Several Information like living in city, about city, shopping, and etc has been reduced. I never understand, why some users do it. They do not reserve any right to remove all the relevant information from the Article, and put their own written Non-Sense things.

The information like travelling within city, might would helped someone to travel in City for next time, but what I can see that it is even removed from Article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.144.34.38 (talk) 12:52, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
