This is a suggestion for a more succinct introduction to the Wikipedia article on the Rodewald Concert Society. Hopefully, it includes all the required references and links.
The Rodewald Concert Society (RCS) is a promoter of musical education and chamber music in Liverpool City Region.[1] It was established in 1911 as the Rodewald Concert Club, in memory of Alfred Edward Rodewald, a celebrated conductor in Liverpool.[2] The only chamber music society traced in the UK which pre-dates it, is the Newcastle Chamber Music Society. This claims to have been founded in 1880. The RCS changed its name to the Rodewald Concert Society in 1916. Its founding chairman was Ernest Bryson, a composer and its first Honorary President was Sir Charles Villiers Stanford.[3] The first concert was given by the Rawdon-Briggs String Quartet at the Carlton Restaurant on 16 October 1911.[4]
I would also like to suggest that the main article should start with a more detailed ‘History’ of the Society. This would incorporate the ‘Significant Events’ which I previously inserted but which were removed because I had not had time to insert the appropriate references, which are available.
I would also suggest that this be divided into three subsections for each phase in the governance of the Society: 1) As an independent members’ society governed by a committee of elected members; 2) As a members’ society governed by a committee comprising elected members and persons appointed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society; 3) A return to governance by a committee of elected members, completely independent of the RLPS. I think that the section now headed 'Notable founders' should be deleted as it is inaccurate and inappropirate. It does not recognise the work of other founders and Stanford and Greene were not 'Founders' but just expressed their support for the venture. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alan.jones.ski (talk • contribs) 20:20, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
