Station service[edit]

If you notice the other shuttle's tables on station listings, I have reconfigured them and will be doing the same with this one. Help will be much appreciated. --imdanumber1 19:59, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Discussion/Proposal[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was to not merge. However, H (New York City Subway service) has been reverted back to a disambiguation page. The Legendary Ranger (talk) 00:57, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As the H (New York City Subway service) article is expanded on here as part of the Rockaway Park Shuttle article, it is proposed that this H (New York City Subway service) article be merged with this article. STrRedWolf (talk) 02:47, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly oppose. According to the sources, the H is a replacement for a part of the A route. It serves the Far Rockaway (east) branch of the Rockaway line and only enters one station of the Rockaway Park (west) branch. In contrast, the Rockaway Park Shuttle serves the Rockaway Park (west) branch.

One shared station is not enough to make a conclusion that these services are the same. Vcohen (talk) 08:44, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Also I suggest to convert the H (New York City Subway service) page back to a disambig. Vcohen (talk) 09:27, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
P.P.S. Here is the discussion that gave birth to that disambig. The recent edits by Hmanck have blurred its mission. Vcohen (talk) 11:56, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose merge as the Rockaway Park Shuttle and H train are two totally different services, but Support reverting H (New York City Subway service) to a disambig. The information User:Hmanck added either exist in other articles or violates WP:NOTTRAVEL. The Legendary Ranger (talk) 13:46, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Support - Much of the information contained in this article is already contained in the other. Of the four reasons to merge WP:MERGE lists, H(NYCSs) has really good examples of two:
  1. There is a large overlap of information contained in both this article and in H(NYCSs).
  2. H(NYCSs) is relatively short compared to the other, and it is unlikely that the article will be expanded within a reasonable amount of time.
Also consider that the H line as it currently stands could be expanded to Rockaway Park before the line across Jamaica Bay is reopened to passenger service. In any case, the line as it is now is intended to be temporary, and once full service across Jamaica Bay is restored, services will be restored to what they were prior to Sandy. Therefore, not only do I support the merger, I propose that H(NYCSs) be redirected to this article. R36 (talk) 23:10, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Comment It is my understanding that the only thing keeping H service from running to Rockaway Park is that there is no power to the station. There's power to the third rail, but not the station. R36 (talk) 23:14, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Question. the H line as it currently stands could be expanded to Rockaway Park - Do you have a source confirming that it isn't WP:OR and/or WP:CHRYSTAL? Vcohen (talk) 10:41, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Answer. No. That statement was merely speculation on my part. Regarding my other statement about no power to the Rockaway Park station, I found this [1], a portion of which says:

There's no power in the terminal building at Rockaway Park. It may be related to the adjacent commercial block which reportedly had a massive gas explosion and fire, and remains a large pile of rubble. One or two attached businesses are still running on generator power (as of 12/21). Perhaps LIPA provided a common power source? … The station platforms (B 116, B 105 and B 98), plus Rock Park Yard, DO have power.

<A> or "A diamond"[edit]

Need consensus please. The TA rarely uses a diamond indicator and only uses it for lines that travel both local and express.

The <A> is only used in the A Train Timetable as an "eye catcher" to indicate the 5 trips that go to Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Street during rush hours. It is not used on trains, station signs, or the subway map. Mysteryman557 (talk) 13:26, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Confused scope of page due to merge?[edit]

A lot of this article contains information about many routes that historically went to the Rockaways but were not shuttles; the text of the article refers to these trains as different versions of the Rockaway Shuttle. I imagine this is largely due to this article being merged into from the former H article. That information is useful, but I don't know if it belongs on a page specifically for the Rockaway Shuttle; thoughts? Tduk (talk) 15:19, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
