Which is it?[edit]

Grain direction?[edit]

In all cases, plain sawn, quarter sawn, and rift sawn, the grain is running along the board, perpendicular to the end of the board. But the text here repeatedly confuses the direction of the growth rings visible on the end of the board with the direction of the grain.
