Sources: Most of this article seems to be condensed from one decades-old document. While a weakness, it wouldn't be so bad if the author(s) would cite specific places in the document instead of asking readers to read all 50+ pages to find the source of each assertion. You may also be able to expand the reliability of this article by including additional historical sources to such points as the visits of Washington, Burr and Lewis. "President" Harrison: "In the late 1880s the village was again favored by the presence of an American president. .... Harrison was visiting (vice presidential running-mate Levi P. Morton) in Rhinebeck later that year when word came to them that they had just been elected." If true, Harrison was the president-elect while in Rhinebeck; no date is given in the article so it's impossible to tell if Harrison stayed there after he was inaugurated. Please don't take offense when someone removes an unverified opinion from your article. It's not "payback" when "well" is removed from "well-preserved": the quality of the preservation (well, adequate, poor, whatever) isn't in the source document. Stevew316 (talk) 17:07, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing the tone issue. I went ahead and corrected the mistake about President-elect Harrison (until 1937, presidents were inaugurated until March of the year following their election; for President Harrison to have visited town, he would have had to have returned after his inauguration). As for the running citations, I look forward to seeing them turned into references worthy of an encyclopedia. Have a great summer. Hi, Daniel. I went ahead and added page numbers to the info I could verify in the report, and added the book that two bits of information come from. Also changed the sentence saying that the Dutch Reformed Church was established in R.V.H.D. to the church had been built (not that anyone would think the Church was established here, but we might as well aim for specificity in our accuracy). From the sentence about the 1703 road funding, removed "and enhanced" from "approved money for the construction and enhancement of the King's Highway" because I couldn't find a mention of enhancement in the nomination form. I added a request for citation to FDR's speaking at the post office ceremony and the visits of Gilded Age swells; not that I doubt the assertions but citations are the basis of a reliable encyclopedia entry. Also, how long do you keep a "citation needed" tag before deleting the statement? One's been on here almost nine months. Do you wait a year? I couldn't find a reference in the form for everything attributed to it. Maybe when you have some time you can take another look? Uncited references: Removed three claims that have no supporting citation. All had the "Citation needed" tag appended for at least eight months and as many as 16. Once the citations have been found, there's no reason the claims can't go back. Stevew316 (talk) 14:06, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
