Missing info on potential for rejuvenation[edit]

The article seems to miss info on potentials of (research and results of) reprogramming for anti-aging / life extension / healthspan-extension interventions.

Moreover, wouldn't it be good if there was info on some of the mechanisms / recent progress / chronology of achievements in this area here or somewhere else?

There also is this section: Induced pluripotent stem cell#Anti-aging properties. Maybe it should be added there instead (or additionally via transclusion). I may possibly also ask at its talk page about this as well.

These two items were featured in 2023 in science in January:

  • A team led by David Sinclair shows how DNA breaks are a major driver of epigenetic change, and how the loss of epigenetic information is a cause of aging in mammals. Using a treatment based on Yamanaka factors, they demonstrate an ability to drive aging in both the forward and reverse directions in mice.[1][2][3]
  • In a preprint, another team of researchers reports the use of reprogramming to modestly extend the lifespan in elderly mice. However, if it was also applicable to humans, risks reportedly may include the formation of cancer (5 Jan).[2][4][5]
