Compact Executive?[edit]

How is Fluence a compact executive car? What would that make the Laguna? Full-size luxury? A compact executive car is an upscale large family car with high performance engine options, at the very least, while Fluence is none of these -- the engine options are limited to economy options from the Megane, the trim levels are only basic, and it is only a smally family car. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.149.241.154 (talk) 13:24, 3 January 2012 (UTC) -- Is somebody trying to sell his Fluence and position it as a compact executive car to fleece money from the buyer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.9.13.134 (talk) 10:11, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thus the differences between different bits of our planet. In Italy or Spain it could still be viewed as a mid-size executive car. In Germany or Sweden - even to a lesser extent in France - folks might well think it compact: people are bigger in northern Europe. In north America the land is cheaper, the towns more spread out, and the roads are wider, so I guess the Fluence is indeed small - like a Civic with slightly more leg room. I imagine in Korea they think more in terms of European sizes than American ones, but I've never been to Korea and I could be wrong. The slightly serious point, given that these indignant comments about someone else's idea of what is a normal car size turn up regularly in respect of all manner of wiki car entries, and especially in the English language Wikipedia where at least some readers are able to bask in a monoculture more easily than speakers of less ubiquitous languages than ours, is whether Wikipedia really needs to try and impose a "one-size fits all scale" on passenger cars. And if so, how? I don't know the answer, but maybe there's some smart guy out there who does.... Regards Charles01 (talk) 12:11, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
