Speedy deletion[edit]

I agree. This is a notable adult actress. Well over a million hits on google for "raven riley", and assuming the article is correct, she has 8 DVDs published. Needs a bit of clean-up, but shouldn't be deleted. (Also, Quantum-x, you should sign your comments.) -- Dpark 02:51, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the deletion tag. This clearly doesn't meet the requirements for speedy deletion. If you want to delete it, it should go through the Articles for Deletion proceedure. -- Dpark 03:05, 5 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

year of birth[edit]

here it is write that she was born in 6, Sep, 1986, but i sow in other place 6, Sep, 1984... what is the right one?

This article says date of birth is 27 sept 1984, while most links online say 6 sept 1984, and some 6 sept 1985

According to http://blog.askjolene.com/raven, it's '86. And I went and Googled her with 'bio', came up with '84 consistantly. Dak 06:30, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

According to an article at http://xbiz.com/article_piece.php?cat=43&id=13859 dated march 13 2006. it says that she is 20 years old. that suggests that her year of birth is 1986. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bwedderburn (talkcontribs) 03:59, 20 June 2006

According to the article, she is 21 years old, not 20. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 23:02, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
She's 19. She has said that many times. She was born in 1986.
Ok. Where's your reference? Because in the XBiz article it states she is 21, not 20, or 19. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 03:15, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Raven Riley was born September 6th 1986 don't matter what Google claims they have her Born in Arizona and Ohio and she's was definitely born in Ohio you see her wearing Ohio state outfits and she grew up wit liz vicious in high school and hung out stipping in bars and invited to bikini contest she won and beca 2601:84:C801:2310:7450:3AAA:63FA:9CBF (talk) 19:56, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The XBiz article clearly states she is 21.

Anyone notice that the categories suggests she's a 1986 birth but the reference in the article says 1984? Let's just pick one and run with it for continuity. 172.193.165.129 04:05, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Until we know for certain what her birth year is, it should be removed from the article period. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loudWP:PORN BIO? 04:51, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have heard from Raven herself that she was born September 6, 1986. Just ask here yourself, she can be found on the forums on jaymancash.com

She could be lying... It's more appealing if you think she's 20 rather than (for example) 23. Sven945 23:03, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How it is possible to see here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3ARaven_Riley&diff=58456079&oldid=47764944 somebody edited my post (the first, I forgot to sign it but u can see the history) and the first answer to it... Lill1245
Well, she's 20 years-old. not 21.tsyoshi

I am a member of her site and I talk to her all the time. She was born September 6, 1986

Her year was set at 1993. I remember her been in the porn industry in 2008. If she was born in 1993 with would have made her illegal. Stop changing her birth people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.96.184.121 (talk) 15:15, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity[edit]

Her Ethnicity says she's indian but the article says she's Italian and Puerto Rican. So which is it? I'm gonna change it to Hispanic for now.

She's half Native-American and Half Italian as stated by Jayman (one of the founders of the site) and herself. This is quoted here Steve355 19:09, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More specifically, she's half Cherokee Indian and half Italian. This is from an interview done by JBM

She stated that she's indian on the PicHunter's Forum that I cannot link because is SpamBlocked: thread #4061, page #2. Memento

Website mess[edit]

Alright. I've seen the damn mess that's occuring over the links to ravenriley.com and to ravenrileyweb.com, and I'm getting confused over just what these sites represent. So the following is my two cents on what all this means...

From just a quick glimpse of the first couple of pages at each site, I would say that ravenriley.com is the official page. As well I would say that ravenrileyweb.com is either some form of fan site or someone else trying to trade in on Raven's name.

Finally, the link to ravensdiary.com shouldn't be present, as it arguably violates rule #7 of WP:EL policy ("Links to blogs, social networking sites (such as MySpace), or discussion forums unless mandated by the article itself.").

As a result, I will keep ravenriley.com and pull the other two links. If you feel it should be otherwise, please say so here rather than just blindly reverting. Tabercil 21:26, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just to make clear, ravenrileyweb.com is not a suitable link, as it violates Wikipedia:External links policy. The key point is violates is #9: "Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums or USENET.", and ravenrileyweb is very much a discussion forum. Removed Gossip[edit]

Please stop adding "She is possibly involved in a relationship.... and variations of that. Either cite a plausible siurce of leave it out. Thanks Jerry lavoie 07:18, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs improvement[edit]

This article's full of holes, and needs proper citing.

Raven Riley (born September 6, 1986 in Ohio) is an American porn star, appearing online, offline at events, and on DVD.

What events?

Riley debuted online at age 18, and garnered popularity. Since then, she has won several awards for her movies and photos. Raven is of Italian and Native American heritage. Riley regularly updates her personal website with softcore, lesbian, hardcore, and light fetish sets. At present, there are fifteen published DVDs starring Raven Riley for sale through her online store. In what is a solo-girl tradition, Riley has also cameoed on several other adult websites, including Misty Anderson, and Kate's Playground.

What awards? What's the website? When is "present"? Link to the website.

All information above except the Kate's Playground and Misty Anderson statement have been published in AVN Online Magazine. jaYManCash, which Raven Riley is part-owner of, started up a new venture, Evil Motion Pictures. The goal for Evil Motion Pictures is to break into the horror genre of mainstream movie making.

This is poor citing. "All of the above" doesn't work well in a constantly-changing article. You've got an example of proper citing at the end of this paragraph, now use that to cite individual facts above.

The article states "Jay Man, his business partner, and Riley started a company called Third Pentacle which launched her solo website in December 2004." But Third Pentacle was not incorporated until 04/04/2005. http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/pls/bsqry/f?p=100:7:3382146384887830::NO:7:P7_CHARTER_NUM:1533683 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.208.244.40 (talk) 22:38, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion[edit]

Considering that this lacks adequate sourcing and doesn't have even uncited assertions that would suggest qualification under WP:BIO or the subpage for pornographic actors, I don't see any reason to keep this article. I am surprised that this has been around as long as it has. Right now it is simply acting as a promotional extension. Of course, I'm not going to actually search for this one, but if you can find significant reliable independent sources on this person that satisfy the primary WP:BIO criterion, the deletion tag can be removed. Cheers. The Behnam 19:49, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion. It has already gone through an AFD with no consensus reached. You are welcome to nominate it again for AFD.Ocatecir Talk 19:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To be specific, speedy deletion only happens when there is no assertion of notability; in other words if the article makes no claim for why this person is noteworthy it can be deleted. As soon as any specific claim (correct or otherwise) for notability is made, it cannot be speedied. In this case the claim is "she has won several awards for her movies and photos". As Ocatecir says, you'd need to start another WP:AFD discussion to test the merit of the notability claim. Gwernol 20:03, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that the Afd had little turn out and the 'keep' votes were rather detached from policy. I'm surprised that was closed as 'no consensus,' since it isn't about the vote but rather about the policy. I may or may not pursue AfD. It isn't my line of interest really, and I don't want to do research, but still, it doesn't qualify under policy. Perhaps you can bring it up to standard without me having to AfD it? Quitting the Business[edit]

Not sure how to word it or add it to the wiki page. But it is official: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=830244

Similar to the Dana DeArmond example, if Raven says she's retired then wikipedia can state that as long as it is reported by a reliable source like AVN. It doesn't matter if she breaks whatever contract in doing so, wikipedia is not a party to the contract. Don't remove the statement simply because she's not supposed to retire due to some unknown contract that's out there and whoever she's contracted with is bound to lose some money. Vinh1313 (talk) 14:17, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the information was removed because of the first line of said source, 'although nothing is official.' Wikipedia thrives on statements which are official, and not simply speculation (and yes, members of a company can speculate. In fact, anything which is not official is speculation.) Please give me one reason why non-official information that is potentionally libious and harmful to a business is on this biography? I can't talk further into the issue as i have no idea whom the person is, but do know a thing or two about wikipedia policy. I also don't see how the article you link to actually applies to this situation. Thanks, Metagraph comment 20:20, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I also noticed that you said it was a verifiable source. The source itself is, however the information clearly states that it is just speculation. Please don't re-add it without discussion on here further as this is a BLP and all information on here should be non libious (as if it turns out not to be true she could loose affiliates, or at the very least possible customers), and sourced properly and officially as per WP:RS. The source contradicts the article, as the article implys that everything is settled and finalised. Feel free to re-add it if you work in that it is not confirmed officially, which is where it counts. Thanks, Metagraph comment 20:37, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's not just AVN that is reporting that she has left the business; There's also a story here saying the exact same thing. Tabercil (talk) 21:39, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see which part is speculation. It may be hearsay by the owner of an affiliate program that Raven is also a co-owner of (according to the wikipedia article) but he's not speculating. He's stating that Raven told him she is retired. It is against his business interests to admit this (for the reasons you stated) if you're worried that it's hearsay. What about inserting instead: "Thomas Leach, owner of jayman cash, announced that Raven retired from the adult industry" which is what AVN reported on."? Vinh1313 (talk) 21:36, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That works for me. Tabercil (talk) 21:39, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Metagraph was definitely prescient about this whole debacle. Vinh1313 (talk) 05:58, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just for clarification for other people, there are no retirement papers or process that people have to file or follow to make it "official". I understand what metagraph's argument now since it seems like Raven never directly announced her retirement and it's not clear what steps AVN and XBIZ took to verify her retirement beyond taking Leach's word for it.
