WP:INDIA Banner/Jharkhand workgroup Addition[edit]

{{WP India}} with Jharkhand workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Jharkhand or one of its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the irrelavent categories to the article -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 10:48, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tinucherian thanks for your updates, but some information is wrong as like distance between Ranishwar and Dumka is not 31 it is about 43 KM. So I have changed it.--Arindam Mukherjee 20:06, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Ranishwar is the real name of Raneshwar[edit]

Hi All, Ranishwar is the real name of this village due to Hindi influence the name get changed in several official papers. Several people are active to protect the unwanted change. Gradually Ranishwar name is coming back in its original form. We can see the effect in Bank nameplate, Block name, News papers and many places. Thanks to them who protected the name. (We need to change the heading of this article from Raneshwar to Ranishwar so I request to you Mr. DBigXray that please change the heading of the map and if it is possible change the original heading from Raneshware to Ranishwar[I don't have any idea how to change the original article heading, so need your help ]) Arindam(007arindam007)--007arindam007 (talk) 07:04, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Done

Actually there is a pronunciation mismatch between Bengali pronounce and Hindi pronounce and this is the reason gradually this name was getting change from Ranishwar to Raneshwar. I talked with the SBI Ranishwar that by which name the bank is registered under SBI. There reply was Ranishwar then I requested them to make a change in there documents and nameplates. I talked with the Dainik Jagran reporter(Goutam Chatterjee) regarding this issue and then he took interest in it. His contribution is huge in this whole activity. Now maximum newspapers are using Ranishware at place of Raneshwar.(http://in.jagran.yahoo.com/news/local/jharkhand/4_8_9136384.html). This name is derived from Ranishwrnat. If till any doubt just say me I hope I could clear tit. I am really thankful to you that you helped me a lot. And another request that in that map Raneshwar is still visible so please make a change. --007arindam007 (talk) 09:03, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have removed the current News section as it was not important for this article on wikipedia, This article should give information about the place, Although Very Serious incidents can be added on an article but this incident of police firing due to a LAnd DIspute is not wp:Notable enough to be included. Please understand that Wikipedia is not a newspaper website . If you want to add important news please do so on http://en.wikinews.org and not here.
  • Ranishwar or Raneshwar is not a very serious issue here. As both have been found to be used hence it is good to includeit as Actual name and Alternate name in brackets. This is a common practice on wikipedia. Also the correct name that is used for Lord Shiva is Raneshwar, (as i found it in a number of places online [1][2][3]), I am not sure if the official name used for this village is Ranishwar or Raneshwar. In the map the place is marked as Ranishwar but on the top I have also mentioned as Raneshwar because Raneshwar word is used in the newspaper article. If you can give us links of some Official government sources (eg. Census data or local or state gov website) then that will be good. I have added a list of the schools/banks and college that I found on the site http://www.onefivenine.com/india/villag/Dumka/Ranishwar Can you confirm if the list is correct or not ? If something is not correct please feel free to remove it, thanks. -- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 10:58, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also I feel that the word रानेश्वर (Raneshwar) or राणेश्वर (Raneshwar) is made from the words रण (battle) + इश्वर (god) = रानेश्वर so रानेश्वर (raneshwar) seems to be the correct pronunciation and not रानिश्वर (Ranishwar) . Although I have named it as Ranishwar for now due to your request however it will be helpful if you can find official sources to verify the correctname. (as of now both Raneshwar and Ranishwar link to the same page here) thanks and regards-- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 11:36, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
