Rogers' Rangers[edit]

In the template Template:United States Army Rangers and the article Rogers Rangers, an editor is making the usual grab of the British unit, Rogers Rangers, run by a Loyalist BTW, and attempting to assign it to the United States. I would appreciate anyone's help. Student7 (talk) 12:34, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, it was basically every American Ranger historian who made the grab. Also, I'm the same editor that you had a discussion about this issue last year, so please don't insult me by claiming that this "grab" is in the present tense, when it has actually stood for almost exactly two years now. At any rate, please take a look at the changes I've made to the template and the categories and see if they seem appropriate to you. EvilCouch (talk) 22:24, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good! Thanks. Student7 (talk) 01:21, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Glasgow Rangers or QPR? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.183.36 (talk) 02:17, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

American Football instead Football[edit]

Sorry for errors - i'm foreigner.

In section of sports, there is subsection "Football" refering to American Football. It should be changed, beacuse not only US citizens are using this wiki. Americans should finally learn that term "Football" is reserved for sport where you actually kick the ball. Americans are so silly... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.153.221.102 (talk) 21:51, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Being a "foreigner" is no excuse for being insulting to American users, and ignorant of the thing about which you're complaining. Researching the history for the end of December 2010 (the time you wrote), there was no section labelled "Football" that referred to American football. This same section was earlier that month titled "Soccer", and someone later corrected it. At no time did the section have anything to do with American football, because there aren't any American football teams named "Rangers", professional or otherwise. The only American sports teams called "Rangers" perform in the sport of ice hockey. And to further correct you, in American football you do "actually kick the ball". 71.200.89.119 (talk) 19:21, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Excessive detail for a disambig[edit]

Moving this here:

The Indiana Rangers still serve their state and the United States of America as an elite Long Range Surveillance Unit composed of Paratroopers, Snipers, Pathfinders and Rangers specializing in Reconnaissance and Surveillance deep behind enemy lines serving within the Indiana Army National Guard They are now designated as C. Co. 2/152 Long Range Surveillance (Airborne) of the 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade "Indiana Rangers" and were also formerly know as D. Co. Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol 151st Infantry (Airborne); D. Co. Ranger 151st Infantry (Airborne) and as The 151st Infantry Long Range Surveillance Detachment (Airborne)

I have no interest in editing the Indiana Rangers article, but this level of detail has no place in a disambig, especially when the subject has its own article. The info I removed should be repatriated to the Indiana Rangers article, if it's not already there in another form. Let's also remember that the policy is one link per disambig entry; this passage has nearly 20 in addition to the one still in the list. 71.200.89.119 (talk) 19:00, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Opening section[edit]

Instead of an edit war, how about we discuss whether or not this disambig should have the opening paragraph of general text? I'm not sure either way, but I'd like to hear what people have to say.Euchrid (talk) 03:57, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

US Army Rangers[edit]

123.103.210.114 please discuss your reasoning for removing the link to US Army Rangers here instead of edit warring. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 06:12, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As I stated earlier, the 75th Ranger Regiment is also called US Army Rangers.123.103.210.114 (talk) 06:16, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Think of the 75th as a square, and US Army Ranger covers rectangles. The latter is a broader category that includes the former. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 06:21, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I get it now. In other words, one is a subset of the other.
