This guy also had a rather dry political talk show on the weekends. I would add that tidbit to the article, but I can't recall the name of the show.

Ramblin Rod's "predecessor" was Addie Bobkins (Bob Adkins). Addie had the local live children's show on KVAL (Springfield) until 1961, when he transferred to Portland's KPTV. He had the #1 Children's Show in the Northwest until his departure for Los Angeles in 1965, when Rod Anders took over. Rod continued a similar format for years, but his demeanor was not quite as loving toward the kids, a possible reason the rumors about his being "inspiration for Krusty the Clown" may have surfaced. Rusty Nails seems to be the inspiration for the name of the character, but Matt probably created his OWN characters from all those childhood shows: Addie Bobkins, Rusty Nails, The Three Stooges, Popeye, just to name a few. Only Matt knows for sure!

Separate show from article[edit]

I think "The Ramblin' Rod Show" should have its own article and not be redirected to this article. If the show lasted as long as it did, it should have its own article. Other show articles have a lot less info and they still get their own pages, and there seems to be enough info about it to create one at least. --MisterBwaar (talk) 23:26, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How about this is deleted unless we can get a source on this? This is a disparaging comment that claims to be attributed to "many who visited the show as children". That is not a proper source, that sounds like a disgruntled adult who didn't win the smile contest and has an axe to grind. I'm willing to listen to discussion about this but I think it should be deleted. I know this was posted a while ago but I ended up here because I just found out a friend was on the show as a kid. They can concur with this statement though I can't "cite" them properly for it to be a part of the article. Maybe this tidbit can be in Trivia? Is Wikipedia about the truth or about glossing over parts of history to make it sound nice? Rod was a jerk to his staff and hated kids. Just because his television persona was beloved does that make it okay? Or maybe we need 2 different articles, one for Ramblin' Rod and another for Rodney Carl Anderson. Before you get pedantic, that was just humor.
