Great article so far, but I have marked it as a stub for now. Either we need some kind of history of the development and heyday of the railways in Staffordshire added, or we need to amend the title of this article to "The decline of the railway in Staffordshire. -Ladybirdintheuk 12:51, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, agreed. I originally split this from Staffordshire because it looked too specific for that page.
I think it could do with a rewrite, though. Most of the lines seem to have 2000 as an arbitrary closure date, but I know for a fact that the Oakamoor branch closed in 1988. - Goose 10:28, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
To whoever wrote that Alton towers wish to reopen Alton station you are incorrect! It is ourselves (Churnet Valley Railway) who intend to reopen the line to Alton station at some point in the distant future.
