Cherry R.C. (discontinued)

Is this really true? Because I'm right now drinking a 20 oz. of Cherry R.C, though only gas stations and liquor stores sell it. Maybe they meant the 2 liter bottle of Cherry R.C. as I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

I see them all the time too in certain liquor stores and gas stations, but then again I also still see ice cream bars that went out of production in the late 90's, so I'm afraid to know.

I'm reluctant to put any of this up, but what about the international demand for RC Cola? Since being introduced here in Bangladesh in (I think) 2000, RC has become quite popular, second only to Coca Cola and Virgin, another upstart. 05:00, 21 Jan, 2006 (UTC)

RC and moon pies? Is this a really unfunny Southern stereotype, or what? I've lived in northern Florida almost all my life and I've never had a "RC and moon pies hoedown". TheCustomOfLife 02:34, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

People do in fact eat them together, but I've never heard the word 'hoedown' associated with thier mutual consumption. I think it goes back to the depression-era, when the combonation of the two was a cheap sugar fix Youngamerican 16:18, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

My dad told me about an old version of RC Cola that he remembers back from several decades ago; isn't offically the same as RC Cola but from a longer time ago or is it a different product? if it is the same, mention it in the RC Cola article and make a redirect for Double crown cola. --SuperDude 22:20, 14 May 2005 (UTC)

Think he might be recalling Double Cola? Lambertman 04:27, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

"RC Cola has never lost a taste challenge to Pepsi or Coca-Cola."

I'm curious as to the authority upon which this claim is based. Until then, let's leave out the marketing copy.

ANSWERED: RC never has lost a taste challenge. Which is part of why the other cola companies don't include rc in their taste challenges. Write the company for documentation.

I've seen this mentioned somewhere as well. It seems to come from the fact that RC Cola was still made with sugar, whereas Coke and Pepsi moved to high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). However, canned RC cola now may contain sugar and/or HCFS. Only the version in glass bottles lists 100% sugar in the ingredients. 97.82.247.200 01:00, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Here in the Raleigh area, you can find RC from a variety of bottlers, some of whom put it in glass bottles with sugar, some in plastic with HFCS, and some in plastic with sugar. I can't speak for everyone, but I perceive a difference in taste between the two. The sugar RCs have a crisper, less sugary taste, and I do prefer it to either Pepsi or Coke. Jsc1973 06:36, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
I noticed that when I lived in Cary, and now that I'm a few hours to the west, all that you see is what I mentioned. Thanks for the correction, and I agree, the sugar-based RC does have a unique taste, reminiscent of early 1980's Coke, but much tastier. 97.82.247.200 01:16, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Diet Rite?

Seems like there's a lot of room for dicussion of Diet Rite and its 7 flavors ... important as the widest range of Splenda (non-Nutrasweet) diet sodas.

Popularity in former Soviet republics?

I've heard that this beverage is the most popular brand of Cola in the former Soviet republis. Can anyone confirm this, and why is that the case? XavierTheGreat 23:35, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't have evidence, but I've lived in several former Soviet republics (post fall) and never saw an RC Cola over there. --128.135.239.232 (talk) 00:04, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

RC Cola project

I'm doing a project about RC Cola. I've found out a lot about it's history. I'm not sure some of these facts though. But it is really hard to find the density of RC Cola, or just any kind of cola. It's also hard to search for the freezing point. I'm freezing some soda in the freezer to see how long it takes for it to freeze so I can write that as the freezing point for my project. 74.60.19.137 03:12, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Person

Better Picture??

Has anyone looked for a more professional picture to present of RC (that would still satisfy the Wikipedia requirements)? It just seems so sad that both the Coke and Pepsi articles feature such stylish photos of their logos and RC just has a picture of a two liter bottle on someone's kitchen counter. R.C. Cola mentioned on Family Guy

Am I the only one who believes that this deserves a mention? --ColaDude 18:22, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

If RC Cola was the subject of an entire episode of Family Guy, it might be worth a mention. Otherwise, it's not of particular interest to people looking for information on RC Cola to read about how it was mentioned on Family Guy once.--Nonpareility 18:25, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Hahahaha R.C. Cola isnt even good anyway --ColaDude 18:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

LOL, although an incredibly hysterical skit, I don't know if it would be appropriate for this page.. But for those who dont watch the show.. Brian and Stewie are wandering in the desert when one of them thinks they see a Dr. pepper vending machine in the distance. As they get closer to it, they realize it was only a mirage, and let out a a groan of disappointment when they realize its an RC cola machine, and say something like "ew its an rc cola machine" and they walk away.

you are right it deserves mention--Karfsma778 (talk) 13:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Popularity in some parts of the South?

I had heard somewhere, that in some parts of the south, that RC Cola is more popular than Pepsi, but not as popular as Coca Cola. Is there anything to this? 68.118.33.20 17:45, 21 July 2007 (UTC)§

If so, that's weird. I thought RC Cola was just a generic brand.. nobody ever drinks it or serves it anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.21.221 (talk) 04:48, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

really? im in and from georgia but hardly ever drink rc cola or snapple either--Karfsma778 (talk) 13:28, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Please explain this

"In October 2000, Royal Crown was acquired by Cadbury Schweppes plc through its acquisition of Snapple." -- This makes no sense unless further explained. -- 201.37.229.117 (talk) 17:56, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Philippines or worldwide?

Can someone clarify the quotation below? The problem may be one simply of punctuation. Did RC Cola disappear worldwide for 3 decades, or just in the Philippines? Richard David Ramsey 03:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

In the 1970s, RC Cola was popular in the Philippines with its franchisee Asiawide Beverages, after the brand disappeared for 3 decades, RC Cola was relaunched and now became the third largest-selling cola brand, toppling Coca-Cola's Pop Cola, and now behind Pepsi-Cola and Coca-Cola.
  • I tried to fix that section up, but it seemed to me it was more about a conflict between distributors in the Philippines than the actual cola companies themselves, so I just axed the whole section. Beeblbrox (talk) 15:18, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

does RC have a root beer ?

does RC have a root beer ?--Karfsma778 (talk) 19:23, 6 May 2008 (UTC) seriously?--Karfsma778 (talk) 19:23, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Royal Crown bottlers made a Royal Crown Root Beer in their early days (1930s or earlier). Royal Crown became Nehi later, and Nehi bottlers did bottle a Nehi Root Beer; the name "Royal Crown" (later shortened to "RC") was then only for their cola products. As recently as 2001, one Nehi licensee made Nehi Root Beer in cans in the Southern California market, according to this collector's sighting [1] --Orange Mike | Talk 19:13, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
