Grand Tetons Pylons[edit]

If I remember correctly, when I was climbing the Grand Tetons the piles of rocks that marked the path through the bolder fields were called pylons. I was wondering if this is an actual or offical climbing term for these markers or if it is just a general term for the stack of rocksChichoman (talk) 02:54, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about climbing terms, but we used to call these markers for hiking routes cairns.Wschart (talk) 01:35, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

As I said in my edit summary, I cleaned up the disambiguation page according to the Wikipedia Manual of Style for disambiguation pages. Those who cleanup disambiguation pages should definitely check it out. First, links are supposed to be at the beginning of the entry and there should be no other links. Also, disambiguation pages are to disambiguate articles with the same name, not list every conceivable usage of a term. If a usage does not have an article because it cannot support one or it has not been written yet, it is a judgment call. If the topic can definitely support an article, I make a red link rather than linking to an existing article, but that is a personal preference. If there is an article that mentions a term that cannot support an article, it is also a judgment call. The question I ask myself is the likelihood someone coming to this page and be looking for that specific usage. In fact, I think I made a mistake in including one of the entries. I will delete it. -- Kjkolb (talk) 23:44, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
