Notability Does this actually warrant it's own article, versus a subsection of the Home Fries article? 50.135.73.142 (talk) 00:18, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inapproriate Picture[edit]

The potatoes are obscured by what appears to be an effects filter; does anyone have a useful photo of Potatoes O'Brien? Preferably one that clearly elucidates what they are, as encyclopedias generally are meant to do. --AtTheAbyss (talk) 08:26, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's been 2+ years since this comment and the picture is still up. It should be removed or replaced. 73.145.175.54 (talk) 04:28, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It's not so horrible that we need to remove it without a replacement. Spudlace (talk) 04:29, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Origin[edit]

Found a menu from 1850-69 listing 'Potatoes O'Brien' rendering the origin theories false. Since I'm not a native speaker I probably shouldn't edit the article. My source can be found here: https://digital.lib.uh.edu/collection/p15195coll34/item/30/show/29

It certainly does cast doubt on the date of origin that is suggested in the article. It is only a claim, and although this casts doubt on it's veracity, we'd need secondary sources that discuss it. We sure can't use a menu (it's a primary source) with an unclear date (a 19 year possible range). 174.212.222.85 (talk) 04:36, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We can't know if its the same dish based on a menu. Spudlace (talk) 05:06, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

unclear[edit]

are preboiled (leftover) or raw potatoes used for this?
