The 0-60s website should not be allowed to be on the page. There are many excellent resources that are excluded from the external links, and the 0-60 times should be no exception. Nudity on recently-added link[edit]

FreedomSeven just added a link to 944time.com, which looks to be a great repair reference site. Unfortunately, it also has a picture of a semi-naked or naked woman on every page. Given that the article has nothing to do with naked women, do people think it's appropriate to link to that page? I didn't find anything in the external links section that seemed particularly appropriate. Stephen Hui 14:22, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of anyone's personal views on nudity, the link in question should at minimum carry a "NSFW" notation. 171.159.64.10 (talk) 14:18, 31 August 2010 (UTC) Who's never been naked before? Number of the last 944 turbos produced[edit]

Porsche produced really 250 944 turbos in the last year. 247 were given to clients, 3 were kept by Porsche.

By chance, I got the 944 turbo with the serial number 247.

internal model number 952[edit]

The internal model number 952 was used for normal 944 turbos without the S. This has had nothing to do with the steering wheeling being on the right side.

I have had both a 951 and a 952. The 951 has had 220HP, the 952 has had 250HP.

Most part numbers in the 952 still have had the 951 on it as the parts were identical.

Mitsubishi allegation[edit]

I just removed a claim that Porsche sourced a balance shaft from Mitsubishi. I suspect this is a mild vandalisation. The sentence in question:

Porsche also licensed Mitsubishi Motors' vibration-reducing balance shaft technology for use in the 944's engine, at a cost of $8 per engine produced.[citation needed]

This claim seems to be right. Porsche engineers told me that it is licensed from there several times.

Adding maintenance section[edit]

I'd like to add a section that explains the recommended timing belt/water pump replacement interval. I think many people get into 944 ownership without realizing just how complex and demanding these cars are. Since the 944 has an interference engine, timing belt replacement is critical. Belts have been known to snap at as little as 35-40k miles, with damaged head/valves as a result. So most recommend that the timing+balance belts be replaced every 30k miles and the rollers for the belts every 60k miles. The procedure for tensioning the belts requires a special timing belt tool. The belts should be retensioned about 2-3k miles later, and maybe again at 15k miles. Other than that, 944 maintenance is pretty much like any other car. Replace the various fluids (oil, transaxle, coolant, brake, power steering) at reasonable intervals and the car will last a very long time. Wws (talk) 15:31, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

assembly[edit]

I believe the 944 was assembled in Audis Neckarsulm plant, not stuttgart as listed on page

True. In the 1970s, Porsche did not have the plant capacity to produce the 924, and VW/Audi had an unused ex-NSU plant nearby. So a deal was struck and production commenced. The 944 continued this relationship. BTW, unlike the Audi-based engines in the 924, the 944 engines were assembled at the Porsche plant, then trucked over to Neckarsulm. Not another teen movie[edit]
