Why do we assume the company's apostrophe-less spelling of "Popeyes" was a mistake?

Isn't it possible that they really intended to spell it the way they did, and meant "Pop Eyes," as in "eye-popping," which could mean spicy?

Even if it is a grammatical error on the part of the company, perhaps the article should at least have an alias reflecting that misspelling, since that is the official name...

The name is "Popeye's", and was indeed derived from "Popeye Doyle". However, the idea about the spicy flavor is quite observant.

Even though the restaurant was NOT named after the popular cartoon character, The Popeye cartoon character has appeared in MANY of the chain's advertising campaigns and promotional items over the years.

(lack of) apostrophe

The reason that there is no apostrophe is that the proper pronunciation is "Pope Yes"... :-) zowie 05:17, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

(No longer -- hello, new logo)zowie 15:16, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
umm yeah no thats not right . Dappled Sage 22:20, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
actually, I do believe zowie is right. Megastealer 18:37, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
it had an apostrophe for the first several years. Believe it was dropped when they re-did the logo and dropped the "Famous Fried Chicken" from the name.

Wow, I am assuming that's some type of Joke. No one could be dumb enough to think that since the company has a national television add with its name pronounced. (76.165.207.2 (talk) 16:50, 29 April 2009 (UTC))

Jerome Pentsky

Can someone please provide information regarding Jerome Pentsky and his involvement with Popeyes? Especially considering he is a living person, Wikipedia rules dictate that information regarding him must either be verifiable or be removed. Mdlawmba (talk) 00:07, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Popeye's UK

In the Category "Food chains in the United Kingdom" it states Popeye's as a former chain, but I can't find any information or evidence. Is there any info available on this?--Guru Larry (talk) 09:25, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Jerome "Pop" Pentsky hoax

Jerome "Pop" Pentsky is a figment of someone's imagination, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jerome "Pop" Pentsky for the poop. Please stop adding his name as a founder. --CliffC (talk) 03:07, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Popeyes Louisiana KitchenPopeyes – The name has always been "Popeyes" throughout the company's existence, but the ending words after it have changed. I think it would be simple enough just to call the page "Popeyes". JE98 (talk) 12:04, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Seeing that the logo for Popeyes is tagged under Fair Use, I feel compelled to question the logo's copyright status. If we were to analyze it using American standards, we can determine whether it is too simple.

What we see here is the word POPEYES that is monochrome and has the "fun and friendly" aesthetic to it. As they closely resemble conventional writing, they are clearly too simple to be copyrighted, so the next step is to inspect the badge component. We know that flat circles with arcs of conventional text about the same distance away from the edges are considered simple, and I am not convinced that the three uniquely colored layers of the "P" in the middle is complex either. If you ask me, I would say that the most complex parts of the logo are the two still simple fleur-de-lises, but even a simple fleur-de-lis is not considered copyrightable under US law. I am hesitant to upload it to Commons in case I am wrong, so I am left with the following question:

Is the logo of Popeyes eligible for copyright, or is it too simple and in the public domain? GaɱingFørFuɲ365 07:53, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

I would think that it is eligible for copyright.HAL333 21:37, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
I really do not think that this is a WP:RFC matter, which is about soliciting opinions. Copyright cannot be dealt with subjectively, it is objective. Have you tried WP:MCQ? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 10:29, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
Should I close this as off-topic? GaɱingFørFuɲ365 04:16, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Yes, please do. This isn't the place do debate the merits of a copyright claim. OhNoitsJamie Talk 23:38, 30 December 2019 (UTC)

sometimes as Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits or Popeyes Chicken & Seafood

I know this is true but I can't find any citations. The best would probably be Google Maps listings showing many Popeye's being named that. Would that be a good citation? RocketLauncher2 (talk) 22:44, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Popeyes code never reaches my email address. Help!

I am 78 years old and the age of a manual typewriter. Still, I know the code never reached my e-mail address for Popeyes Deals. We love Popeyes and it is very frustrating having to go to a competitor that is not as good. We would get it probably 2 times a week, and it’s impossible to get a deal 2600:1010:B11F:4B16:A9D2:70DF:DBD7:9795 (talk) 01:20, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

Wikipedia editors cannot help you with this problem. You will have to contact Popeye's customer service directly. Cullen328 (talk) 01:31, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
