Placed here temporarily[edit]

These are texts from the original article which i don't know where to place... hell i don't even know what it means! So i'm placing them here temporarily until someone familiar with the subject decides what to do with them:

Firemaster BP-6, major component is 2,2`,4,4,`5,5` –hexabromobiphenyl.

What does Dec mean?[edit]

The characteristics of the substance states that Dec(omposition) occurs at 300C, what does this mean? Thanks Jimaginator 13:48, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

i'm not sure either. You might want to check with the creator of this article: Boil1202. --Plastictv 14:44, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It means it breaks down into simpler chemicals rather than boiling. Septentrionalis 15:54, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move[edit]

Proposed to move to singular.

Survey[edit]

"History" question[edit]

I'm not sure that this statement is correct: "...although these animals were promptly culled." I remember quite a tempest about a significant delay after the major feed supplier became aware the accident had happened before the farmers were contacted and the information shared. Many people I knew personally were affected, including a friend whose chickens had the highest level of contamination of any tested. Is this point worth researching further? I'm keeping track of the longterm effects of the poisoning with surveillance of the literature and have approached a university about a possible research project on a specific health issue involving young men born 1972 to 1975. Should this question be inappropriate, I apologize. The PBB poisoning of Michigan spread far beyond the state line. Michmaade 19:44, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Michmaade that the word promptly is not very specific or accurate. An excellent history of the PBB incident was published in the American Journal of Public Health (Reich MR. 1983. Environmental politics and science: the case of PBB contamination in Michigan. Am J Public Health 73(3): 302-313.) I'll look up more details and report back. Michigan PBB disaster new page?[edit]

I'm curious why the "Michigan PBB disaster" doesn't have its own page? It is one of the worst chemical incidents in the history of the United States. (PBB was in the food supply for most of the 9 million residents of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan for almost a year.) Jdybka (talk) 06:15, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added an external link that talks about the follow up 30+ years later in an external links section, but I agree a separate page would be nice. Someone has to want to put the time in though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.95.126.178 (talk) 22:00, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
