Variety of English[edit]

This article seems to have been converted to British usage 1 year ago, though created with American usage in 2006, with assorted WP:RETAIN violations between.

As per WP:RETAIN "An article should not be edited or renamed simply to switch from one variety of English to another."

Further, while I don't know if I would go so far as to say that this article has "strong ties to a particular English speaking nation" as per MOS:TIES, the article notes no British connections to this figure, while mentioning that he lived in the United States for ~9 years, was resident conductor of three American orchestras, guest conductor of an additional three, studied at an American university, and gave master-classes at an additional two. His wife, though born in Germany, is described as "American", and the only child named in the article appears to have been raised there and now lives in Italy. If a standard had to be chosen, therefore, American usage would be the only choice supported by the article itself.

I move to remove Template:Use British English and Template:Use dmy dates.

Hmm, just seen this, Kilometers to Verona. I added those maintenance templates based on the state of the page as I found it, mea culpa if that was wrong. I now see that the date format was changed with this IP edit in 2011. I'm not seeing anything in the history that establishes American usage over English; the additions I made were in my native idiom "took a diploma", "master-classes", but these are fairly trivial differences.
