Recent edits regarding veganism and sustainability[edit]

I noticed a recent edit which removed the 'vegan leather' notation in this Piñatex article. Wouldn't the product still be considered vegan, as it's a biobased alternative to leather which does not use animal skins? Ideally the lifecycle would make it biodegradable, but items can be simultaneously non-biodegradable and vegan. PETA UK (May 2018) and PETA Asia have highlighted this material on their blogs as a cruelty-free leather-alternative (to be fair, they mention environmental credentials but in vague terms). It was also the first fabric manufacturer to receive the PETA-Approved vegan logo to certify that it no animals were harmed or used in its making (news release, May 2016). If this is the case, wouldn't it be considered vegan?

Looking forward to discussing and learning more! - SunnyBoi (talk) 14:57, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
