How is this different from street photography? Is it really deserving of its own Wikipedia article?

Differentiation from Street Photography[edit]

Reading the definition of Street Photography, it appears to be more focused on people as the subject, whereas Photowalking is more about photographing interesting things. I'll add some narrative about that.

I am not sure I agree that Photowalks are only for Groups. There are lots of websites and Youtube channels about Photowalks for single photographers. The key factor is walking and takibg pictures as you go and not a pre-determined subject.

Facts in Wikipedia are not based on opinions or incorrect usage of words. Irrespective of incorrect usages of the terms "photowalk", "photowalks", "photowalking", "photowalked", etc by bloggers or YouTubers, the origination and accepted use is specific to the activity of communing as a social group while engaging in photography as a way to learn new skills, engage with other creatives, and practice photography with the help/instruction of others. A single person walking with a camera is not a photowalk, any more than a single person jogging is a "marathon" -- although that is often incorrectly used. "Wow, that was a marathon". No, it was a jog around the park alone. Street photography (the intention of creating editorial art or journalistic photographs) often includes an interest in people, but is not a requirement. Attempts to co-opt the word "photowalk" to increase SEO and view counts, to attract clicks from people googling "photowalk (some city name)", is not a representative use that requires entirely redefining a word to satisfy the opinions of bloggers and YouTubers.
