About Periyar's name[edit]

Periyar is the name by which the Indian and Tamil Nadu government refer him like Mahatma Gandhi etc .Mahatma means great this honourary.http://www.tn.gov.in/pressrelease/archives/pr2006/pr170906/pr170906a.htm hence renamed him as Periyar.Periyar University,Periyar District are named after him.Hence redirecting it to periyar.Helloarise 11:14, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Periyar's thoughts were against caste system. He refused to use and omitted caste name after his name. So dont show him as E.V.Ramasami naicker. In Tamilnadu aswell as in india Periyar refers to Periyar E.V.Ramasamy. so pls change the heading of the article about his life history as "Periyar E.V.Ramasamy". Putting caste name after his name is against his principle. and this is not fair on ourpart..User:Princenrsama 11:11, 26 July 2007 (IST)

Periyar (river) is the longest river in the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the few perennial rivers in the region. There should be a discussion to determine whether there is a WP:primary topic for Periyar. See WP:RM. – wbm1058 (talk) 22:23, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
