This is just a copy form the tobacco(#perique) article, however this is a very distinct tobacco worth making it's own article for. I dont know too much about it except that they are my favorite American Spirits. Please rewrite! Teimu.tm 04:19, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Smoking Perique Pure[edit]

I changed the portion of the article which made the contention that Lousiana Perique is too strong to smoke unblended and pure. There are people who smoke it pure (myself included) and the experience is just fine. Though if you roll it into a cigarette it will turn the paper the same color as the tobacco during the smoke! So I changed the contention to say that "most people consider it too strong..." to establish that some people do - in fact - smoke this excellent tobacco in its pure state.

The American Spirit Black label cigarettes are great, the best of the American Spirit labels in my opinion. But they come nowhere close to the flavor of unblended Perique tobacco, in part because of the blending and in part because the Lousiana Perique in those cigarettes has long since dried out. Though the blend does make for a very spicey cigarette, indeed.
