Yellow peeps;Picture

I think we should change the picture to Yellow Peeps. Their logo uses yellow peeps, and the yellow ones are more popular-In some stores, they only sell the yellow variety. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.32.205.164 (talk) 08:16, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

27 hours

Is this correct?? "Back in 1953, when the peeps were made by hand it took 27 hours to make one marshmallow peep." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.97.245.84 (talk) 00:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I saw that a few days ago, and I had a hard time believing that too. I know this is not the most serious wiki, but still....4.249.72.236 (talk) 02:40, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

I think what they meant is it took that long for them to gel - not that there's actually 27 man-hours of labor involved. Look at some of the old Jell-O packages and you'll see that they're similar. The actual work takes only a few minutes, but you have to leave it in the fridge for a full day before it's ready. The newer ones gel much more quickly (still 1-2 hours though), but back then, it took some time... Lurlock (talk) 13:54, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Jewelry

How is the information on Jennifer Kellogg not considered advertising? The jewelry is from an old collection, she apparently doesn't make it anymore, and the "article" linked in the external links isn't an article: it's a collection of ads about....Jennifer Kellogg. Joyous | Talk 22:02, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

I don't really know what is considered advertising or not. But I added the information because I thought it was a noteworthy aspect of Peeps. I don't really know enough about Jennifer Kellogg to know if she deserves her own article, though.--Paraphelion 05:25, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

Peep jousting

I've never heard of this before. Is it indeed common enough to merit inclusion? --Icarus 07:05, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I think it's probably akin to Something Made Up in School One Day. Joyous | Talk 11:27, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
That may be the case, but I'm not certain... It did turn up a number of google hits, but I didn't investigate them thoroughly (got too distracted by one really funny one, lol). If no one is able to meaningfully defend it's inclusion in the article, I think it should be removed (but possibly preserved here on the talk page). --Icarus 18:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Virtually everyone I know, when the subject of peeps is brought up, will mention this tradition. I think that it is not SMUSOD. Strait 02:57, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey now...don't be so small minded and provincial...just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. FYI it DOES exist...try it sometime...Sincerely, Yo Daddy 2-1-07

It's funny how the younger generation thinks that if it doesn't come up in a Google search it must not exist. LOL

I don't think it should be in there. The source is a blog, definitely not WP:V. The CNN link and section can stay, though, since it's CNN. —ScouterSig 17:27, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

I've actually seen a photograph somewhere on the internet of peep jousting. Which either means it is in fact real, or someone really wants the world to believe that it's real. Anyway, just my two cents... Blackmorningsun 04:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

65 years in the U.S.South, and in this context, I have never heard the term 'peep.' I assumed it was British usage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CF99:2080:9DE0:65C9:5A78:CD05 (talk) 21:37, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

External links trimmed

I pruned back the "external links" section, as it was becoming filled with not-particularly informative blog links, you-tube links, and links to silly personal sites. Joyous | Talk 19:13, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Peeps Userbox!

Everyone who has worked on this article, or who just likes to eat peeps, should put this userbox on their userpage:

You better keep your hands off my peeps!

(copy/paste {{User:UBX/peeps}} to your userpage) -EdGl 02:19, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Candy and merchandise

I really feel a full listing of marshmallow Peeps past and present would serve better than just the rough mentioning of them in the article. The article includes nothing of discontinued Peeps, colors available, and is quite incomplete. An American icon such as the Peep deserves as full an article as Kool-Aid, which has its own listing of all flavors.

Furthermore, there is no mentioning of additional Peeps sweets available (Flix candy, lollipops, ring pops, etc) or the plethora of Peeps merchandise created in the past 4 years. Peeps eating contests

Should the section on the Peeps eating contest really be included? It seems like only a few of such contests have been held, and none has which have been mentioned in the press, which I believe makes it notable. Also, the "puke rules" should probably be either sourced or deleted. Jeztah (talk) 08:32, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

I've done over 100 radio interviews, several print interviews, and there's been two documentaries filmed regarding the Sacramento Peep Off. It's bad form to post to your own site, but there are puke rules and they have been inforced. --Dave Gornzilla (talk) 22:39, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Indestructibility

What do they mean by this? You can put a peep in hot chocolate and it melts away so it's hardly indestructable. I think the section should be clarified more 99.53.171.95 (talk) 16:07, 1 March 2009 (UTC)eric

The section clearly says that peeps are "jokingly" referred to as indestructible. I haven't been able to find much online about the Emory University experiments, though, and it's unhelpful that they're presumably joking a bit in their quotes to newspapers. --McGeddon (talk) 16:24, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Sugar-free Peeps

Should something be mentioned in the article about the sugar-free Peeps? They're sweetened with Splenda and, I believe, their only sugar-free alternative. They've been around for a bit, but noticed they aren't mentioned in the article. --132 21:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

State of article

I removed several uncited statements (May 2009) and some irrelevant material. Citations are needed for some of the other statements, especially the originator. So far this artcile is a mixture of advert and trivia. It is definitely no encylopaedic.

Peep Off

The article does not mention what actually happens at the annual Peeps contests. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.106.135.117 (talk) 23:09, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Good point, I added a mention (heavily discounted Peeps are eaten). --CliffC (talk) 01:17, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
