Relevance

While the forces supporting the gubernatorial aspirations of Pedro Rosselló will be splitting their votes among two congressional candidates, the forces supporting the gubernatorial aspirations of Luis Fortuño will be concentrating their votes in one candidate, Pierluisi, since the Senate president decided not to run. These are very relevant facts: two rossellista candidates affect each other's vote-getting capacity; the Senate president's decision strengthens Pierluisi. The reality that Fortuño, Pierluisi and MacClintock have been friends and shared academically and politically for decades is also a significant and positive fact.

Governor Pierluisi??

This news article (in Spanish) tells us the specific law that makes the secy of state succeed to the governorship. But some people believe this law - Artículo 1 de la Ley Núm. 7 de 24 de julio de 1952 - is unconstitutional... He was never confirmed as secretary of state, he swore in as governor without any sort of process, hence why all the controversy and hearings that are going to be happening this week. Jay Starz (talk) 14:12, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, and for the record I want to weigh in that I think describing him as the de facto governor is appropriate, since he acted as governor for 5 days even though that was retrospectively determined to have violated the law. An alternative would be "acting governor," but I think de facto is good because it contrasts to the idea of a lawful governor (which is what the Supreme Court found he was not).
