First secretary of education?[edit]

The article suggests that Parks was the first Massachusetts Secretary of Education, but I can't find a citation supporting that. You may mean that Parks was the first African-American Secretary of Education? If you check our historical newspapers online, there are many additional newspaper sources you could add to this. I can see that you've done a lot of research in the archives, which is great! But it would be good to also flesh out the article with more book and newspaper sources -- let me know if you need help with the research piece. AmandaRR123 (talk) 18:16, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedits[edit]

I've tried to tweak some of the prose, more editing is needed; also, I think you should refer to the subject as Parks (rather than Paul). -Reagle (talk) 12:16, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is a very interesting article! Overall it is very informative but the section I edited, the one about his engineering firm, is hard to read. The last few sentences specifically do not flow well. I did't want to delete them entirely so it wouldn't mess the source up, but you may want to look into rewording them. Links and disambiguate[edit]

If you look at "what links here" you will see lots of links to this page for people that are not this subject (including am musician). We will have to disambiguate. -Reagle (talk) 12:16, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

New Sections[edit]

I made a few major edits to this article. In addition to cleaning up some of the older references, I elongated the overall article by adding new sections such as early life and education, military and engineering career, films, and controversy. Novelrod (talk) 05:39, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
