NPOV[edit]

"and eventually the saddest story in game show history was about to be written: Allen Ludden had cancer." While I agree with this, I think it needs some NPOV tweaking. Mcfly85 06:26, 13 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed split[edit]

I didn't place the {{split}} tag in the article, but I'll go ahead and start the discussion. Kickaha Ota 20:30, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. It appears to be fairly common for multiple incarnations of a show to be covered in a single article. If the article were larger, then splitting it could be more necessary; but its size seems manageable as it is, and having all the formats on one page helps the reader see how the game evolved over time. Kickaha Ota 20:30, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Let's face facts, people. There are more than a few things in this article that need to be split. The article is too large, and the game shows should be separate from the game itself. Plus, I believe that the original Password should have its own page, and the succeeding versions (Plus and Super) should have their own. --172.168.43.139 16:42, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment The article is written as if the parlor game predated the TV show. This seems wrong. User:Lambertman 17:55, 28 August 2006 (UTC) I fixed that not long after posting this. Lambertman 19:24, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. This article is getting pretty long, so I would support an eventual split to separate the NBC versions out into a single article. I don't see the need to create separate Plus and Super articles at this point, though. Erechtheus 20:23, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The article's length is reasonable when you consider it contains a tremendous amount of minutiae about scoring systems, celebrity guests and theme music. Chris319 01:15, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for now. The article is not even long enough to come up as a warning when editing. I do not believe it to be that long. Also, if the article is split now, we will have a smaller article here, yes, but we will also have several new stubs that need work. WP has enough stubs as it is without purposely creating more through splitting. Wait until there is enough info for a new full article first and then split. – CobraWiki 05:38, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The article has gotten particularly long, and each version has enough information to make seperate articles. FamicomJL 02:06, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. A split of the 1961-75 versions and the Plus/Super versions would be suitable. Scrabbleship 14:50, 18 December 2006 (UTC) (originally written 15:41, December 17, 2006 (UTC)}}[reply]

1963 Theme Song[edit]

What proof is there to confirm that Bob Cobert's theme song was called "You Know The Password?" I thought there was no name to the song. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.131.4.133 (talk) 04:47, 5 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I've heard it being called that over at GSN.com AND invision, but I do wonder what that conclusion came to. Nontheless, it's a great theme. FamicomJL 19:10, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After checking the Game Show Invision board, the only mention of a name for Bob Cobert's theme name is "Frank's Theme." The GSN Board claims that the name is "You Know The Password." According to this website, there is no name, aside from what they have listed: "Password Theme" (66.131.4.133)

episode status[edit]

I put the NBC episode status on its own Super POassword and Password Plus page, is that ok?

Fair use rationale for Image:Lightninground.jpg[edit]

Image:Lightninground.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Host[edit]

During the password plus series Tom Kennedy hosted for a period of time. This should be included with actual reference in the Plus category.

Observation?[edit]

Is it just me, or does the new Million Dollar Password concept read as Pyramid, not password? TheHYPO (talk) 00:42, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Password TV Show[edit]

I am watching the Sunday night Password show on 6/15/09/ I have never seen such a dumb celebrity in Jeff Galin in my life. I would think that you would allow all the contestants on the show tonight come back and play with someone with a IQ over 10. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.60.24.197 (talk) 00:58, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Password_(game) be merged into Password_(game_show). I think that the content in the Password_(game) article can easily be explained in the context of Password_(game_show), and the Password_(game_show) article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of Password_(game) will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Password Plus[edit]

Why did you remove Alan Luddins Password show from he line up? It is my favorite Game show. I am very upset. Please put it back in the line up.

Running time[edit]

On the DVD set, the 1960s CBS prime-time episodes run about 25-26 minutes with ads removed (one or two very early episodes run 27 minutes, suggesting they were partially unsponsored...a few others do, but only because they have some live-on-tape commercials intact). The CBS daytime version runs about 22 minutes, but may have originally run 23 minutes (they are slightly edited). The final year of CBS 1960s prime-time was edited down to 22 minutes for syndication, but original ran 25 minutes. I do not know the running time of the ABC, NBC and 2000s-era CBS episodes....can anyone help on this area? Suddenly There Is a Valley (talk) 03:33, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
