Ruby and the Romantics[edit]

Ruby's version is one of the most heartbreaking, crushingly sad songs I have ever heard. The relentlessly upbeat accompaniment, with lyrics entirely in the present and future tense, and young, naive, innocent voice. You just know it didn't work out. Nothing that wonderful ever works out. Dreams die. The more I listen to it, the more the innocence hits me, and the sadder it gets. The singer ended up working in department stores and never got paid for her work? Then it's true. The song really was sad. Dave of Maryland (talk) 23:25, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
