South China Morning Post, The night of October forth 2019: People stocked up on food due to the riots. This note was added to a live running update of the riots.

A local supermarket in North Point is seeing longer than usual queues, while fresh vegetables are almost out of stock.

People are stocking up on frozen dumplings, instant noodles and bags of rice. (I just want to add that the Hong Kong legislature was elected and the DAB (pro-Beijing party) honestly got more votes this time. It is not out of love of Beijing, but a distaste for those fat cats who claim to support democracy. The election is not fully free and fair, but the so-called Democrats do not want reform that might vote them out of office.)

Acronym[edit]

What does WC stand for in the context of "WC evangelical church" it isn't clear from reading it and I doubt it stands for water closet. Could someone point out what it stands for, or perhaps replace the acronym for what it actually stands for? I've read the book itself but I still can't think of what it might stand for. And now I think about it I don't recall it saying what kind of church it is, I think it is only assumed?

York Notes[edit]

Is it necessary to mention that there is a volume in the York Advanced Notes series by Kathryn Simpson in the very first paragraph? Sounds like a bit of a pitch to me. Mornington 19:40, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, but it looks like the second paragraph to me? I think it's there to assert the novel's notability. The JPStalk to me 21:18, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Are we then to await the availability of Advanced York Notes as a sign of notability? In my opinion this is a trivial piece of information, probably fit for a footnote. But I suppose this is the sort of information which is practical. Shame. Mornington 17:24, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, but it helps, doesn't it. A footnote is not the best place, but feel free to move it further down under an appropriate subheading (critical reaction, etc.). The article is in a primitive shape and needs references anyway. The positioning of a pretty uncontroversial paragraph should not be high on the priority list. References in popular culture[edit]

Although Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show mentioned the book in the context of closet lesbians, timed at 7:25 in this video [1], it was just in passing and does not seem significant, so I removed the reference that user:Bwhoback added for that mention. - Fayenatic (talk) 23:50, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
