Poster[edit]

I saw a great orginal poster for this organisation in the People's History Museum in Manchester yeasterday. They didn't seem to have any NO PHOTOS rules so i'll go back and take a picture of it when I next have the chance.--JK the unwise 22:43, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Copy-editing[edit]

I tried my hand at copy-editing your article.

I reworked the first couple of sentences to try to be a bit more punchy. I also condensed a couple of sentences in the Irish paragraph and the last sentence about the ill recruits. I also caught one typo.

I am not sure I actually made much of a difference (sorry).

I have a couple of broader suggestions: I am not quite sure I know what the idea of the article is? Is it to talk about the way in which opposition grew, the groups that opposed the war, the reasons for opposition, all of these things? It might be better to give these various strands subheadings.

Why Topic is Important[edit]

It appears as though W.T. Stead's efforts in organizing the Stop the War Committee constituted a major break with Cecil Rhodes' and Arthur Milner's plans to expand the British Empire. The implications are that Rhodes, possibly in conjunction with the Rothschilds, hoped to utilize the press to forward this same objective. There may be evidence they had greater success in using the press to sway both British and American opinion surrounding World War I. gospelnous 00:23, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
