???[edit]

Does anybody know what these are: preopercle, interopercle, and subopercle.Asdfjkl1235 (talk) 20:58, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Modification[edit]

I am looking to adding some anatomical and structural information on the operculum to improve this page. More specifically, I would like to add some pictures of the operculum from a Perch dissection I will be doing and would like to add some more credible data on the structural components. Can someone please provide me with some feedback on this idea? I also would like know know if there are some more recent sources on the Operculum that you would like to share? Thank you for your time. Liz0618 (talk) 18:21, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edits[edit]

There seems to be a lot of confusion on some of the language used on this page. While researching I could not find the terms preopercle, interopercle, and subopercle. I instead found the terms pre-operculum, suboperculum, interoperculum and operculum. The term operculum and opercle bone can be used interchangeably when describing the overall components as one. To avoid confusion I would like to edit this page so that we can refer to the overall bone as the opercular series and the components as pre-operculum, suboperculum, interoperculum and operculum. I think this will make it easier for readers to distinguish the operculum section, from the overall operculum bone that contains all of the components listed above. I will also go into detail of the anatomy and placement of the opercular series and its components. Please let me know what you think of this. If there is a specific reference anyone used to compose this page, please make it available so we can expand even further. Thank you! Liz0618 (talk) 04:09, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
