Best selling?[edit]

The claim about the Ciera being 'one of the best-selling cars of all time that only sold one generation' and comparing them to the Beetle and the Mini is a little spurious - as both the Beetle and the Mini went through many reshapes, revamps and varients in their long production runs (Mini 1959 - 2000 and Beetle 1938-2003) and neither can be regarded as single generation cars. This is also the car that all the cool kids drove in Michigan City Indiana circa turn of the century —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.9.132.18 (talk) 20:39, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see the cutlass come back, but that's just me, ruthie b.. I love my 92 cutlass ciera, in the CHI. If they ever make another one I want to be the first to drive one.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.22.20.185 (talk) 11:05, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most Stolen Vehicle?[edit]

Is it really the most stolen vehicle or is that rather gossip? I don't think anyone would ever rank any vehicle as the "most stolen" vehicle throughout any decade, plus that's really silly and it shows disrespect to the company who manufactured the vehicle. So, I would say that ranking it for how many times it was stolen is just unreliable information. --PJ Pete June 12, 2010 0:37:15

There are rankings for the most stolen vehicles. However, I don't think the Ciera has been one for a while seeing as how it went out of production almost 15 years ago. Since it's unsourced and really not all that helpful, I'll remove it. --Sable232 (talk) 05:38, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why so many edits and unedits?[edit]

I was trying to update the engine list/engine list in info box but the 60-degree v6 page and other A body cars have conflicting years for engines so I just reverted all my edits. Sorry for the inconvenience.74.218.82.179 (talk) 12:06, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Popular in Iraq???[edit]

The portion about having been "exported to Asia" received a "citation needed" tag in October 2009, and has since been expanded with more uncited material (Iraq, highly unlikely). I could imagine the Ciera being sold in certain Gulf States, but since it has been uncited for way over four years I shall go ahead and remove it until it can be cited. New to this, so forgive the formatting. IIRC, there were a few Cutlass Cieras awarded to families who lost a soldier. [1]

Also, from personal experience, there is a difference within the LG7 3300 v6 between 1988 and 1994, there were two series of the engine, mostly minor improvements, nothing that changes the HP rating or the block/head castings, but did change the distributorless ignition system placement, alternator, brackets, pulley sizes, harmonic balancer, certain seals and bearings. Differences outlined here:

I've had 3 over the last 6 years, one that I've had the whole time, a 1993 with 329K on the clock, it's my current parts car, a 1995 that was rusted to hell that I ended up using for parts, and currently a 1989 with 90K original. I rebuild them mostly out of need.

So they weren't really popular in iraq, but respected, as far as I can tell. Just one of a few different cars given to families as a gratuity.

Hope it helps. I know it's mostly apocryphal, but the evidence is there. Maybe someone can get a statement from GM?[2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by J.Boyington (talkcontribs) 05:44, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chevy Cutlass in Mexico, and the GT varient of the cutlass Ciera not mentioned?[edit]

There were sportier made for the MDM under Chevy, with a 2.8 and manual transmission, and there was a Cutlass Ciera GT made for the US market with ground effects, handling package, and gauge cluster. I know it's a low importance car, but they are still everywhere and deserve a little more than a short blurb. — Preceding unsigned comment added by J.Boyington (talkcontribs) 05:49, 14 April 2018 (UTC) J.Boyington (talk) 06:15, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[1][reply]

Netherlands[edit]

The image caption indicates that the 7th flag on the Oldsmobile flag band is the Netherlands. However the shade of blue is completely wrong. Either the color faded very peculiarly, or the designers picked the wrong color, or it's actually the flag of Luxembourg. Do we have a reliable source describing the flags? Pburka (talk) 03:44, 9 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've never seen anything from Oldsmobile that says which flags they are nor why they picked them.
That said, I'm pretty sure the seventh flag is indeed for the Netherlands. I have (at least) one of these emblems that I pulled off of something or other - the blue is dark enough to be that of the Netherlands' flag. Looking at the picture on the article, the blue on the Finnish and Swedish flags is washed out to the point of being teal, so it's likely that the emblem's faded in a rather odd way. --Olds 403 (talk) 00:42, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
